my at&t voicemail always says "press * to disconnect". is there any reason I should do that instead of just hanging up?

I've called my voice mail a few times and ended up in someone else's voice mail. That was a long time ago, but, I guess if they had a glitch like that someone could get into yours. Whereas, if you click the button it logs you out, basically--so even if they got your callin session they'd need to login somehow.

i'm guessing it's a ploy to increase the length of your call by a few seconds and hopefully trip you past another minute.

Haha, I remember that happening to me a few times quite a few years ago. It was pretty crazy. I got a recipe for chicken.

I recall once I was having problems with my voicemail where I wasn't getting notifications. First thing the tech I asked was if I disconnecting by pressing *. Don't know if it was just a standard question type situation though.......
