Any reason NOT to get a Radeon DDR over a Gf2 MX?

I have an order in for a Gladiac MX at $165 Canadian after $50 coupon. Not bad... BUT, I'm concerned the quality and speed of the Radeon cards are so much better.
Sooooo, which should I get? For a very reasonable amount more, I can get the Radeon from on here...
IS there any SERIOUS compatibility issues with this card?
I need opinions and experiences and quick! :Q
Thanks!!

I just got the Radeon DDR, and I absolutely love it. Not a single compatibility problem so far.

Just as I thought... definately Radeon seems the way to go. I just have to find one at the right price... and available to me here in Canada. :Q
You'd be amazed how much that complicates things sometimes. :|
I don't understand why a CANADIAN card costs $50 less in the US! :|:|

I have a 64meg Radeon in a dual boot, all scsi, one gig Athlon system.

I love the Radeon for gaming in Win98SE, but the W2K drivers absolutely blow & I've tried them all.

I thnk he meant the cards are 50$ more than the exchange cost. example if a card is 100$ us and a canadian dollar is worth .65 us dollars.instead of selling it for 153$ they sell it 203$.

If you're considering the Radeon 32ddr, buy it quickly.
When it's gone it's gone.
It's been discontinued and replaced with the 32sdr, that's why the $50 rebate. Only the Radeon 64 will have ddr.

Greetings,

I have both a RADEON 32DDR and a MX 32MB DDR. Out of the box with the stock drivers both cards benchmarked at 4410 for the RADEON and 4440 for the MX (at 1024x768x16, MadOnion 3DMARK2000). I did notice that the RADEON "felt" abit more "choppy" than the MX during the benchmarks but the detail....oh my gosh, I didn't notice half of the tents on the ground during the helicopter sim until I loaded up the RADEON!!! If you want speed, go with the MX, if you want quality and two or three frame rates less, then go with the Radeon.

Hmmm...hard choice, 2 or 3 (man that's A LOT!) frames or good image quality. =)

Dont forget, that was a 16 bit test, which we know is not Radeon's stong point. How about comparing 32 bit scores?

HARM you must be benchmarking them on a low end system?? I have a C366@550 and my scores are allmost the same little less. I would rather have Quality then speed any day .

Low score??? I have a Athlon Classic running at 650MHz on a TYAN K7 motherboard with 64MB of RAM (I'ld consider this a mid-end system). I did break 5000 on the MX by stepping up the Clock Freq and Core Freq but my brother that has a PIII 600 (O.C. to 800) can't break 5000 with my MX card in his system. So I assumed this was a pretty good score. As for 32Bit, I think that the MX and Radeon will be about the same. As I said, even though the 3DMarks about the same between the two cards, the Radeon seems to be "more jerky" but the DETAIL is great (as stated in previous post). I'll see what I can do about getting some 32bit marks this weekend.

I switched from a gts to a 64meg VIVO. My 16bit score with the gts was almost 7500. My 16bit score with the Radeon is a little over 5000 & the 32bit score is 4800. These scores don't mean a lot however, 3D Mark is slanted toward nVidia cards. My 1024x768 32bit QIII score is better on the Radeon than it was with the gts. The gts worked WAY better in W2K however!!

How did you O/C your RADEON??? I have been hunting the net for the last two days and couldn't find anything!!! Mind letting me in on where you found the TWEAK program or REG Hack???

Also what is your hardware setup? I'm trying to get a list of benchmarks togeather with people that have AMD/Intel CPUs. I think that I'm starting to see a pattern develope with the Radeon after seeing some posts in other threads.

You can easily OC the Radeon with Powerstrip. It doesn't do a hell of a lot of good however. My retail was clocked at 183/183. Raising it to 200/200 was hardly noticable.
