Any reason I could not get 75Hz refresh at 1680x1050?

Hi everyone,

I got a Dell 2005fpw about 2 months ago, and my college semester has finally ended so I'm looking into tweaking all my settings for my computer.

Currently I use the 2005fpw at it's maximum 1680x1050 resolution as well as a secondary 17" Viewsonic CRT.

My problem is, I cannot seem to get the dell to allow me to choose a 75Hz refresh rate. 60 or 59Hz are the only options.

Is this because I have 2 monitors connected to my 7800 GTX? If not, is there a way to force 75Hz as the refresh rate?

I notice some refresh-related horizontal lines in most games I play, and realized 75Hz was not set as the rate anymore, which I thought was causing the problem. I also have updated graphics drivers (today).

Any help on this would be much appreciated!

Well it really is only suppose to run at 60Hz as its an LCD it doesn't refresh like a CRT does.
I have heard some people getting the 2005FPW's to run at 75hz via riva tuner. Whether it hurts the display to run over spec is anyones guess.

The horizontal lines you see will still be there if you force it to run at 75 hz though.

To get that to go away you need to enabled vertical sync which is in the Nvidia display settings.

Yeah, i have VSync enabled for almost all the games which have it as an option.

The thing is, the 2005fpw is advertised as getting 75Hz refresh at max resolution (1680x1050), so I am wondering if it's a dual-monitor problem (I havne't had time to plug just the LCD in and test it out yet)

Thanks for the response though

EDIT: Also, If I lower the resolution to a 4:3 ratio, it gives me the ability to change to 75. But I'm not lowering from 1680x1050, so I hope it's not just a stupid design feature =/

im pretty sure either way you will need to run Riva Tuner to enable 75Hz at 1680x1050.

I've been able to set 75Hz at 1680x1050 in the Nvidia drivers before, but it always seemed to cause strange stuttering in games

Hmm, thanks for the response Joker.

I tried setting it, but even after applying the 75Hz in the advanced timing page, it immediately jumps back to 60 in the same window. It won't stick =(

I'll fool with it a bit.

EDIT: I got it =) Thanks a bunch Joker!
