Original Post: Anyone know of any places to pre-order the wii? I've been calling gamestop about once a week and they don't know when they will start the official preorders. I'll be happy to organize a list if anyone can provide info on a successful preorder.

UPDATE: Just to clarify atm, the Wii CANNOT be preordered before the launch date through EB, though games and controllers will still be available for pre-order.

It was advertised in the Zellers(Canadian slightly smaller Wal-Mart) flyer this week, the ad read like you could go pre-order in the store, maybe I am wrong though.

I was going to preorder, but I might just go to Target first thing that morning since all the kiddies will be in school. :)

Good luck. :)

I ordered one from Amazon, but I'm not entirely confident that I'll get it. GameStop/EBGames will be taking preorders very soon, probably next week.

Sunday has six letters in it.

According to a post over at bits bytes pixels sprites, a national conference being held tomorrow in Texas will determine allocation numbers for Gamestops across the nation. Allocation numbers for the Wii and PS3 are supposedly going to be divulged here and upon the conference's close on Monday, your local Gamestop could be taking pre-orders as early as next week.

I understand some of you feel the need to pre-order as it is an ever-comfy security blanket, but with the confirmed million units available to US gamers at launch, is this even a worry?

Half of the people wanting to preorder simply want to flip for profit. ANyhoo, as posted above, "early next week" is when most stores will start taking preorders.

Some insane number like 30-40% of the 2005 supply of Xbox360's went straight to eBay, so even though 1 million should be enough I expect the profiteers will snap up enough to cause a shortage.

I have mine pre-ordered at FYE. They require at least $50 to reserve one. I wasn't forced to do any bundles.

After adding in Craigslist, Overstock, and other under the table transactions, Im sure well over 50% of 360s were resold for profit. I resold the one I got :)

Some places sell out quicker than others, it really depends on the population distribution and makeup. It doesn't hurt to have preorder security, its almost always just a down payment - you're just SOL if you change your mind (of which you shouldn't be pre ordering if you're not sure you want a system...)
