Any programs to help plan the layout of furniture in a room?

You're best bet would be to use basic CAD software and just draw everything in real-world units. Draw the furniture to scale and you can quickly move/rotate/mirror to see how best to lay it out.

This may take a little effort, but why not just draw a box indicating the room dimensions, and use scaled cutouts of the furniture? All it takes is paper, pencil and a ruler. 🙂

I too would be interested in such non-CAD software since those things usually have a pretty high learning curve.

Kind of different, but the last time I was rearranging stuff, was a couple years back, & I had the Sims already on my pc. I just built a room with the same angles, & downloaded furniture to best suit my needs. Of course you won't get actual measurements, but it worked just to get a general idea of where things should go.

For the basic shapes and stuff, i believe you can get away with just a mouse in AutoCAD - ie, not many or any syntax.

Visio includes a furniture stencil (it might have to be downloaded) that includes images of couches, dryers, dishwashers.

Moment I read the title, this is EXACTLY what I was gonna say! 🙂
