Any problems with using ELECTRICALLY conductive adhesive to attach heatsink?

Can I use a silver epoxy that is very highly electrically conductive but has excellent thermal conductivity (29 W/m K)to attach a heatsink. Is the die sufficiently insulated to prevent shorts.

CPU involved is an FC-PGA 600 cel2

Yes, the die is very well insulated if it's not badly broken, in which case it doesn't work at all. If you can just get the epoxy on the chip alone you should be OK. But I sure wouldn't recommend it, especially since if you're using the grease to glue the hsf to the CPU you're likely to put on a thicker layer than necessary (thus reducing heat transfer anyway).

it is perfectly fine so long as it doesn't go anywhere :) afterall, you do have this giant piece of highly conductive copper or aluminum sitting on top ;)
