Any problems with ATI 9600 All-in-wonder?

This video card seems like it has all i want (multimedia stuff, video editing, tv tuner, etc)...

ATI AIW RADEON 9600 Video Card, 128MB DDR, 128-bit, CATV/Video Out/Video In, 8X AGP, Model "ALL-IN-WONDER 9600" w/ REMOTE -RETAIL

Read some posts on newegg that I would need to have another card first to install drivers BEFORE installing this card. But since I am building a new PC (first time), I don't have another card to work with.

Is this true, any comments?

Can't say that makes much sense to me...I have a 9600pro AIW, and didn't have to use any other video card first to install drivers..I don't know what they are talking about..

You certainly don't need another card to install AIW9600 cards, and they are supported natively in Windows.

The biggest "issue" is the lack of DVI support, if you don't need it, its a non-issue.

The Guide+ software and Authorscript (DVD burning utility) must be installed from the installation CD, so the easiest way would be to install the card with the installation disc to get it up and running, and then update to the latest Catalyst set at ATI.com. For AIW cards, I recommend the full package driver install.

Make sure you have the latest DirectX runtime installed, and Windows Media "Encoder" (not player) version9 installed prior to installing the MMC software or the tuner will fail. Read the readme files and installation tips at ATI.com, and it should go well.

What is DVI used for anyway?

Digital Video Interface. Commonly it is a connection to a digital display such as an LCD.
