I have two dells. My original is a Pent 4 2.4 and has 533 MHz FSB. My new one is a Pent 4 (Hyperthreaded) and has 800 MHz FSB.

I have win xp pro on the first one and have it set up just like I want it. Is there any problem or performance hit by simply switching the hard drives between the two computers?

Thank you.

yes. among other things, the drivers installed do not match. i doubt you will be able to boot into windows and even if you do, most of your hardware won't work properly.

The major jam that you will run in to, if your motherboards are different...is getting a STOP blue screen error on boot up. It's actually the IDE controller I believe...One way or the other, if they are different, the only way to get around it is to basically do a fresh install.

Thanks for all the replies fellas.

Ok, Ok, I'm convinced.... Time to do a fresh install and do it right the first time.

Thanks again for all the good info.
