I use Pop Up Stopper 2.2. It's a pretty effective program. The only catch is, you have to hold down the ctrl/shift key every time you click on a link in order to allow that link throuh....but you only have to use the program while your surfing heavy pop-up sites, otherwise just don't start it up and surf like normal!!! It's never allowed a pop-up through as long as I've used it (only a few weeks though! hehe). Here's a link to the site to download it, it's free witch is also another nice thing about it. Get it here!!!. Lemme know what you think if you decide to get it.
Another good freeware program is WebWasher. This little thing sets up a proxy and scans for ANY advertising code, strips the offending code, and spits it out to the browser. This means not only are banners not visible, it's as if they weren't there when the author of the web page put it up. It also does a great job of suppressing pop-ups. You can easily add images, text, or pop up windows to WebWasher's long list of others to ban by right-clicking on the offending content, and clicking on 'Add to Filterlist'.
I use Netcaptor (www.netcaptor.com) to do my surfing and it has some popup management thingy there. You can give it a try. You can also add a page to the popup group where it'll close the window you've specified.
