Specifically, I'd like to get some new pool sticks b/c ours are all messed up (the ends below the tips are cracked). Also, the there is a gash in the felt on the table, I'd like to fix that. Any ideas or help appreciated. :)

I would go to a local place myself.
What price range are you looking to be in for sticks?
If you were close I would offer to refelt your table but if you have someone do it you would be looking ~$200+.

Did this for a while when I was in school.. Used mainly Championship Titan or Tour edition felt. If you decide to felt the table yourself with no experience I suggest those over Simonis or similar as they are more forgiving. You can pick up the felt for between $70-$130.

As for cues I suggest Meucci or McDermott. If that is more than you want to pay retip the old ones or find some "house" sticks at you local dealer. Not familiar with any websites so I can't be of help there.

Edit: didn't notice they were cracked below the tips.

I've always gone through local places, but seyberts.com (they're local too) is pretty big...lots of really nice things depending on the quality you're looking for. In terms of the felt, you're probably better off going with a local store to help you out with that.

I got a $140 stick for $80 at poolndarts.com, maybe it was a price mistake, now I am getting their big catalogs once in a while.

also it's not about the cue at all.. it's about you being a good player or not
so unless you want to be flashy and cool or you have money to spend pointlessly and want others to see it then go ahead and spend 200+ on some "custom" twig

I have to disagree. The cue is very important.
Maybe not for the average player but anyone who has reached a somewhat skilled level can definately notice the difference in deflection and other characteristics.

If you have a pro do it make sure you get the slate/table releveled and the seems redone with wax (not plaster) if is a multi piece slate.
Thanks Quit! I'll have to check it out. The table is pretty expensive, it's my roomate's, I know it takes 2 people just to lift one end up (heavy). I'll ask him what he wants to do about the felt, we'll split the cost.

As far as cost of a stick, probably $50 tops per stick.

well hey, of course i'm not saying go into your backyard and make a cue out of a branch, but i've seen some amazing players win big tourneys with some really cheap 1pc cues especially in the 80s

i'm not going to make things up since i dont remember the names, and yes pro players almost always go on to "high-end" cue, but a lot of the times nowadays they do that out of sponsorship and status

but hey if a cue that cost a grand makes you play better all power to ya
