Any poetry contests for high schoolers?

I'm looking for poetry contests for a friends of mine; Trying to help her get some money, she's really good at writing freestyle poems. Anybody know any good contests where you can submit the poem online, they judge it, and if you win, you win some $$?

no, she wrote them not for $$...i think they're really good and i suggested she submit them to a contest to make some $$...they really are excellent poems 🙂

the best bet would be to look locally, or maybe try a couple lit magazine subscriptions. most of the $ contests are scams.

Writing... freestyle... poems? Is it truly freestyle if it's written? Or do you like get a time limit to write down your poems or something?
Are you talking about stream of consciousness or something?

There should be one that should be available in every area from some org that is sent to schools, on person from each school wins a scholarship for $500 and more for local, more for district, more for region, state, national...She could win enough to get her through college is she's good. 😀
