Any plumbing people here?

I got some old Orangeburg pipe in my yard and it is like, partially malleable (sp?), easy to bend/deform. Apparently, a root has grown under a section and rubbed against it long enough to deform the pipe so that it is now half way closed up and is causing major clogs.

Can I replace a 3' section of that pipe with PVC pipe? I've been thinking of ways to do it without leaking, not sure what I'd need.

umm I did commercial plumbing for 5 years and have been in the office for 1 and I dont know what the heck youre talking about

Orangeburg is not the same size. You will need a special mission band for it. I'll see if I can find an example.

it's that pipe that was used in the 1940's-1960's that is basically rolled up tar paper.

Sorry, it's been a while since I was in sales and had to answer this question. I think it's 1" bigger than PVC would be. Best bet is to call a local plumbing supply wholesaler and ask their counter guys for a fernco coupling for this. I'll keep looking and let me know if you need a phone number.

We saw a lot of this when I was in AZ.
