Ok so according to this speedtest I upload and download at 1475 / 122. Thats normal. My normal ping for counterstrike is around 30-70 depending on the server. My usual server is a ping of about 40. I go to get on about an hour ago and Im ping 170. I think hrmm maybe my cable is acting up, but my UL/DL are normal. So whats the problem. Why am I pinging so high in CS? And no its not just that server, Ive tried about 5 different servers that I normally ping good on. Anyone have an ideas?

bandwidth has nothing to do with latency. You could be on a T1+, but if theres a router lagging somewhere between you and the server, your ping will shoot up.

Probably congestion somewhere between you and the servers. Do a traceroute and see if there's a high delay somewhere.

Hmm, Im using a router. Could it be mine? Why would it all of a sudden just start acting up? Ive changed nothing.

Open a command windows and do "tracert servername" Look at the times next to each hop and see if one's higher.

It could be your router, you need to do a traceroute to the destination IP so that you can see exactly which hop is the high one.

Wish I could get charter...my friend gets amazing ping times with his cable modem at charter. Unfortunately i pay a lot more and have a higher ping with centurytel.
