ut2k4 demo if you dont have it already after all this time is great.

if you never played red faction, you should try that out also.(a little dated, but still fun sticking remote explosives packs on people)

Are you talking Red Faction 1 or 2?
. . . i didn't care much for RF1.

Doesn't Doom iii have a demo? Gfx are good if the gameplay is not.
PainKiller does - very good gfx - and it is OK (but nowhere as good as the game).

Far Cry has a demo (or two) . . . they used to be buggy but the outdoor gfx are spectacular.

If you like RPG, there is Dungeon Lords.

always check nVidia's site . . . they often have recent game demos that d/l quickly

doomIII is boring. same thing. pick up health pack, lights turn off, whip out flashlight, see demon, shoot demon. repeat. there just saved you the time for playing doomIII.

RF2 introduced dual weilding. good game.

painkiller was basically doomIII almost. enemies blindly charge at you and you basically mow down anything tht moves.

if you like games where if theres movement, you gotta shoot it, buy serious sam 1&2 and save some money.

far cry demo dosent do the game justice.

that's why i suggested the diii DEMO . . . gfx are astonishing . . . so is the gameplay (astonishingly BAD) . . . worth a FREE d/l to ooh and awe (and maybe "jump" a couple of times).

never tried RF2.

PainKiller is NOT d3 :p
it actually has some "depth" and definite REplay value (in unlocking extra levels and alternate endings). . . that's why i suggested the WHOLE game - the demo doesn't do it justice.

Painkiller has weapons-combos that are NOT documented in the manual and uses the same Havok 2.0 physics engine as HL2. PK is not a game to "rush" thru (or you will miss half of it).

Serious Sam First and Second Encounter ARE more like Doom - but with colourful outdoors and tons of enemies at once and great firepower . . . rather dated now . . . expect Serious Sam 2 probably the end of this year. ;)

SS2 isnt really impressing me but for a budget game, it looks pretty good.

try nexuiz. due to be released VERY soon. i've been following it for a while now.
OGL graphics from a quakeI engine(dont laugh, it is highly modded, looks as good as DOOMIII, but is pure multiplayer action.)
has RTL, Bloom, many weapons and fire modes, etc.
can run at low setting with a geforce2 or above, but with yuor card, it should run well enough.
http://www.google.com/search?q=nexuiz&s...client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:eek:fficial

some screenshots

up to 64 palyer deathmatch action.
there is currently a semi public beta.

So it's huge deathmatch, not tactical shooter? Poop on that! The original CS in '00 has spoiled me on FPS. I just can't get into the deathmatch scene at all anymore. I can twitch around a quake 3 map or whatever for a while but it just doesn't hold my interest like a good TFPS e.g. Call of Duty

A weapon in each hand? Already done in Marathon 2 back in 1995. Also RTCW back in 2001.

Max in MDK2 was a 6-legged robotic dog with 4 guns (a pair of automatic weapons in each paw) . . . now THAT was a fun game with really wicked humour (2000).

And any demos you can find on fileplanet you can find elsewhere . . . try nVidia's site. ;)

I'll second ut2k4 all the way. The demo had more to it then some full games, and I'm serious! You get access to a limited number of maps and servers, but there are a lot of demo servers out there. Great fun and practice for free.

Painkiller has like 3 different demos that are all good.

Project Snowblind released a demo.

If you go to gamespot.com and go to the demo downloads, you can see which ones are recommended and which are the favorites.

Not really a demo nor SP but Enemy Territory is outstanding free MP game.

3dgamers is where I download my files at as well
