any other laptops use the touchpoint?

Some other business lines make use of it as well, and some sub-notebooks. Look at Dell's Latitude line and HP's business line.
 
Some Toshibas have it, and the HP business line of notebooks have it too.

You can disable the touchpad like I have on the IBM laptops.
 
New Dell D420/520/620/820 use almost the exact same rubber pointer. The current gen use the erasure head type as opposed to the rubber that IBM uses.
