I noticed someone was actually trading computer parts for fishing tackle in the "for sale/trade" forum and was wondering how many anandtecher's like to fish?

Personally, I head down to Galveston every time I get a chance (not very often lately) in search of pretty much anything that'll bite.

Anyone else share my pescatorial passion?

Fishing Rules.
I have been known to set on the dock fishing all day long and not catch anything, though that usually does not happen. I usually catch fish when I go fishing.

Yay, another fellow fisherman/part time computer geek. I went down to Port Aransas/Corpus Christi a few weeks ago to try out deep sea fishing for the first time. Unfortunately it was a very windy weekend and the waters were very rough and murky so the only fish biting were catfish (although I did see a lady fishing across from us on the pier catch a 30+ pound drumhead, she was reeling it in for about 20 minutes). I might try it again later this summer.

YES !

One of my favorite pastimes 🙂

Nothing like going out and catching some Bluefish or stripers 😀

heh, small world

Boogak: I used to go fishing in Port A all the time when I lived in Austin. We'd go deep sea fishing with Dolphin Docks (on a party boat) and 8 out of 10 times they'd put us on some nice fish. If possible always try to book on the Dolphin Express with Captain Tim (assuming he still works there) because he's one of the best. We'd go out with him about 10-12 times a year (back when I had that kind of time).

Been fishing since i was 5!
Great fishing in japan when i grew up so. Also its a national past time for many. 🙂
Unfortunately not too many good fishing sites for fresh water near the*(damn filter) bay area. 🙁 Plus no fishing buddies for me out here.

i used to go fishing every weekend in the summer with my dad and my brother, bluefish, croakers, and in the past few years rockfish and the occasional skate. we'd frequent point lookout, morgantown(?)i can't remember what it's called and sometimes go to north carolina, i can't for the life of me remember where in NC though.

Out here on the west coast, you can get Stripers in the surf near SF or in Freshwater lakes connected to the CA aquaduct. Also we have a fish similar to redfish but smaller and not as good called Yellowfin Craoker. Corbina is fun in the surf with light tackle. You can get a few Perch on occassion. Bonita are fun fast fish to catch, not so much to eat tho. Halibut also during the right time of year. Other than that you really need a boat or go to the lakes for Trout or Bass.

My dad used to take me up to Canada to go fishing every summer. He still has a HUGE get together with fellow fishermen every year and invites me. I haven't been able to go, but I still love to fish. I've been teaching my son, and so far he loves it. Except that time I smacked him in the head with a bluegill!😱

the ice has melted, the landing is open, and I'm going jiggin for walleyes this afternoon. As long as the motor starts!!

Fish Yes.... Good at it... Um... well..... Wanna Race instead

Anyway yea it's the way my Brother get free of the women at home... Neither one of ours understands how we like it but atleast they don't care that we do 🙂

Yep, mostly marsh fishing for redfish, speckled trout, flounder, etc.

Sometimes my father and I go offshore in the Gulf for Tuna, Wahoo, Cobia, Tarpon, etc.

One of my favorite passtimes. Too bad I haven't been able to go for awhile due to all the damn work I have to do.

Check out the pics of the tuna my dad caught on the last trip I couldn't go on.

Nice tuna! Where in the Gulf do you go to get those?

I've braved 12' seas in a 60' boat and a hail storm on one occassion trying to catch tuna out of Port Aransas but never have. One of the few gulf fish I haven't caught yet, but one of these days...

damn this nice weather and all this work

i fish, alot at my cottage on the french river.
you see for me its not about the size of fish i catch but rather the number.
but yeah i like to fish pikeral (sp?), pike, perch, small and large mouth bass but i usually end up catching rock bass, sunfish and itty bitty pearch.
i usually perfer live bait but i always feel bad... plus i find you can catch bigger fish with unlive bait.

*kat. <-- puts her own worms on hooks.

ps id like to add that i dont eat the fish, just catch and release.
