Any other construction project managers/estimators here?

I can estimate and run home construction projects pretty well.

I can also develop a mean web application as well.

Nope. Had a choice to semi-specialize in construction project management this coming year, but had to dump it cause the classes conflicted with my other courses. It's structural and surveying for me...

well, it's good to be diversified. I do commercial construction...

Argh, I be one!
Haven't done any real estimating in several years (Small company, the owners like to do their own take-off, with my input sometimes).
I got a chance to work in the field several years ago and I enjoy it more than in the main office, seems more hands-on when you see progress every day, rather than being on site once a month.

Normally Ill try and build 2-3 homes a year for resale.

My whole family is in the construction biz has been for 50 years.
When I told them I was going to go into computers it was shocking.

I guess I haven't been able to stay away. The money wasn't bad either.😀

Do you work for a company or are you an independant?

I am a commercial roofing estimator/PM. As a matter of fact, I am waiting for a few dozen plan pages to plot as I type this.

Question for the other estimators, is Dodge popular in your neck of the woods? It is huge here. Planwell is trying to get into the market but I don't like their interface one bit, although Dodge's search function leaves a bit to be desired as well.

We use Reed Bulletin and US Projects as well as the local governmental websites. Never used Planwell.

In KY., Dodge is the only way to go, IMO.
Though we do not subscribe to the online edition. 🙁
(We're all in our 50's, rather Old Fashioned, I guess. That and the owners are penny-pinchers!)
