Home to home or PC to home? If used Dialpad for PC to home, worked great. Although i did have a problem with the Linksys 100TX NIC (got lag), but using a 3com or intel NIC worked just fine.

I'll use it when unlimited local calling drops to around $20/mo total for Vonage.

Also search Google for Packet8

www.dialpad.com used to be free back in '99. I used that all the time. It wasn't bad. Slight delay, few glitches, but wasn't bad for free LD! And that was 4 years ago. I'm sure the technology's improved. I think VOIP is the future of LD, and the LD companies should be s***ing their pants. The days of gouging customers for communication are over!

I had vonage and liked what it offered.. I had no problems but noticed a lag whenever I would do a big download on my cable line.. It got really annoying and the savings weren't that huge... I was paying around $35 for vonage (unlimited local and a bunch of calling features)... I was using that as a personal line - it would have been annoying to split the cisco to all the phones in my house....It would be a massive risk to keep it as your sole line - 911 does not work nor does the phone work at all during power outages - imagine how pissed my parents would have been if i convinced them to switch before the blackout :) Anyways, now we use ztel for local and long distance - 19.99 for unlimited locals with call waiting .. stripped down but not bad... IDT has unlimited long distance and long with a bunch of snazzy features for $39.99...

with the way everything is going. it wont matter, imagine if you had convinced your parents to get all wireless phones in the house freedoms.

it seems cool. but ive never tried it.
