Talk about integrating the 2 most perfect toys, heh heh. Now they have a usb camera rig, you can make the robot's respond to movement and all kinds of stuff!!

Any body else here into robotics at all?

no one here is into robotics at all? wouldnt you like to have a system that folowed you around ? so you didn't have to carry it at all??

Between Mindstorms and the Steven Spielberg movie maker kit, LEGO has some cool toys! I wish I had these kinds of toys when I was a kid. I guess I'll just have to get them now. :Q 🙂

heh, yeah, i think i might get my self them for xmas, i've seen other stuff, like the basic stamp stuff, but this is making it easier, and more usefull, it helps you get rudimentry robotics down, then you can learn the advanced stuff, if you want. Haven't gotten to try the new motion controlled camera yet for the mindstorms sets, but I might soon

I have a kit and it's pretty neat. Scares the hell out of people when a little robot comes driving in the room, bounces off their foot, U-turns and leaves. 🙂

I grew up on just the plain old LEGOS but they ruled. I still have my two Pirate ships, castle, and three other big things built just waiting for my nephews to get old enough.

They are my favorite toys from my childhood.

heh, i got a cousin who has the mindstorms and alot of the lego trains, his parents have this home video he made you see the lego train drive by the camera lens then it comes back around the loop then it derails right at the camera, and he knocks the cars around in front of the lens for about 5 minutes, you dont see his hand too much so the effect of a huge train wreck is really done right. . I've always wanted to try to build a working roller coaster, use the rcx to switch trains, and trigger them to leave the station. I have some friends who have huge collections, I might do it if we get a good snowy winter and get stuck inside, if i dont go out in my g/f's 4x4 truck. Heh (having no car really bites)

God dang it! Back in my day there only used to be three kinds of legos - space, city, and castle! you kids with you "mindstorms" are pansies!

Legos are the best toys in the world

hey where those them space sets that had the moon scape?? do you still have them?? How bout the castle sets? I used to know some one who had the original space sets. any one else remember them? I remember I had a big fire department, that took 2 of those big base plates, with 2 working garage doors, that was cool, and a couple of fire trucks. And I had this awsome pirates island/foretress. no it was the pirate good guys. . it was cool, then my parents threw out ALL my lego's because my brother left them all over. . . and i got blamed. But i've rebuilt some of my collection since then.

when i was a kid, we didn't have fancy legos. They were just blocks, and the only people were square with severly multijointed arms and big round heads that pegged into a square block.

64bit, i remember them too, did any one ever build stuff with friends? We had worked out a code to describe bricks, because one person might have the bin, and be looking for somthing, so you'd say I need a 2x6 tall, or some thing else, but if you wanted a brick you knew was rare, you'd hafta search on your own. I still can remember roughly how many I have of certain types, and the rarer items, i know which colors I have, used to messs with lego's alot, they are cheaper than pc's and easier to have fun with. .

i remember that liike in 8th grade we had an emerging tech class that used legos, we made a huge catapult that launch a quarter smack into a guys eye...we got an A.

yeah it was cool, made air go thru some motors, or parts compress, all from a dinky lil mac...not sure if same thing we talkign abotu but it was cool

heh, that lego thing you were talking about, big booty, that was from their educational line, worked mac or pc, i oughta be a lego rep. I like the classic legos or the new, but I like trying to make neat stuff, sure i can built a few lego forts or castles and stage a lego war, or i could design and engineer a mars crawler, or a working rollercoaster.

i had ever lego ever made at one time. had all the instructions memorized too...now that's dedication....lol

Remember LEGOs, hell, I remember Tinker Toys and Lincoln Logs. They are still better but to answer SWEETROBINs question:

<<think 23 is too old for christmas??? >>

I have been lusting after mindstorms myself and 23 is long, long ago.

Would also like one of those robot dogs but $1600 is a lot just to freak people out. 😀

As a kid, classic Legos just plain RULED!

As a father of three young boys.......LEGOS JUST PLAIN SUCK!
I'm constantly stepping on those damn things and let out the same curses that my father did 25 years ago.

I grew up with vanilla lego, it was the greatest stuff although i was always jealous of my friends 'Technical Lego'. The situation reversed later on when i was given a big 'Space Lego set'. There are still times now when i am tempted to by some lego and play with it

hey, aceman i keep mine in a large low tub, rubber maid thing, so they dont get spread on the floor, some of my friends had big clear plastic ones so you could lay on the floor and hold it over your head and search the bottom for small pieces that drifted down without having to dig thru them all, I always kept my parents up with the noise of me searching thru the bin's.

I'm STILL a Lego lover (after 29 years).

I used to build em, then my little Brother would take them apart. Then I'd have to beat up my Brother for taking them apart.

Now if they only came out with Porn Legos...
