There is a old Planetside 2 thread here but I play on:

1. Matherson Server = NC
2. Waterson Server = Vanu/TR

Personally, the game feels stale to me. They really needed Hossin and continent locking by last summer.

hossin was supposed to come out last september. looks like my favorite map if it would come out. i know i could play it on the test server but i just decided to wait until they released it and they have never brought it out. the optimization was probably worth more although. that actually worked. brought my old computer with a amd phenom 9850 and radeon 6850 from 10 to 20 fps to easily 40+ on high settings. now my 8350 and 270x can do 40+ on ultra with everything maxed including audio channels.

Waterson Server NC here. Mostly I just login for the 12 certs per day. With the WDS, I've been playing enough to get 200 points for the first level unlock. Both times so far it's been 3x 1hr XP boosts.

I used to until I realized the game has no point other than grinding certs. And everything in the game rewards you with certs so you have just as much reason camp a spawn point as you do capturing a territory.

When you boil it down like that, what about other shooters? The only point of a game that matters is to have fun. If you have fun, play, if you don't, find something else.

I think Planetside 2 is a fun game, I don't care about grinding certs. I haven't played in a while though cause the group I was with sorta fell apart and stopped playing. So I have to find a new group but it seems like they're all too serious for my liking (have to have a mic, have to attend at certain times, etc.).

Were you in an outfit? That improves the experience tremendously. Running around by yourself isn't all that fun and joining random squads is barely any better. But once you get into an organized and well run unit and engage in some tactics in battle, the game becomes pretty fun.

I just built a new system (in my sig) and have been testing it out with PS2. I like the game but with 2 kids it's hard to find time to play it.

still fun to play planetside 2. but the same thing happens over again. hopefully continent locking will make things work more. the same thing happening will more or less go on but it will be somewhat better. once they get like 10 continents it should be a whole lot nicer

still running around as a independent. for me there is still a lot to learn like basic skill and tactics but also ad hoc teamwork. right now i am level 26. so i am of middle level experience but there is still a ton to learn. just played for the first time since like late january. i had to wait for a huge download unfortunatly. not even sure how big it was. like between 800 to 2000 mb. the redesign of the amp stations is sweet although. the spawn room is now in the bottem where the power thing used to be. there is a shield for the spawn room in the vehicle spawn are. the main room becomes the area of a huge defensive fight when the main shields go down.

You'll learn faster and better in a good outfit. Level 26 is pretty up there, you're not a newb anymore. Playing regularly with others will be much more fun than what you're doing now unless you're a loner at heart.

You killed it for me right there. I hate to play games that require serious clans. I am too old to bother with some younger head up his arse kid scolding me online and asserting his authority over me. Playing with a bunch of like minded friends would be different but none of them have the time or desire to play computer games.

Looks like Planetside 2 is a no go for me.

I am a major lonewolf player, it's doable. You are not going to dive into 10 enemies and kill them all, but if you set your goals you can get stuff done. I go around blowing up sunderers, or running skyguards to drive off air, C4ing tanks, etc.

But there is a problem with revives and repairs from a lone wolf's point of view. You can kill 5 of those 10 guys and then a medic will revive them all and the next effect was 0. Or you can set a tank to burning and it will flee behind a rock and be fully repaired before you can get another firing solution.

Vanu on Connery. I've been on hiatus from it for a few months now (after a little over 330 hours of play time) and will probably jump back in once Hossin hits.

Never been in a outfit but I tend to run with some outfits in their public platoons. T42, DPSO, TED, and PCYS have always been fun to play with in my experience. But for the love of God and all that is holy stay away from JENKWAR if you value your sanity.

You don't actually need to join a outfit to have fun. Just join a outfit's public platoon, it is as easy as clicking 2 buttons. And it is non-permanent so no commitments for you.

There are plenty of outfits out there that do not have authority issues. I am in a outfit but I never participate in their group sessions, I just like having that outfit name in front of mine. And they, like many outfits, are cool with this level of non-participation.

Your mileage may vary.

Ok I understand.

Can you please watch this review of Planetside 2 and tell me if most if not all of the issues he mentioned as negatives have been fixed as of today?

There's a big PS2 thread on here already. :)

Server: Waterson
Faction: VS
Outfit: Vanu Drop Squad (VDRS)

VDRS is a huge, friendly group of players. We have some awesome platoon leads ("Commanders") as well.

I haven't been playing as much recently (indulged in other games ATM), but will always hold PS2 up on a pedastal.
