See subject.

I am not here to talk about WHY i lost faith in valve and the steam service. I will just say i don't like their "Don't like our changes? Tough titties. Deal with it." attitude.

Any one know of a service or a website where i can basically ask it to tell me when a game i am looking forward to has an imminent release date, or it being released that day? There are tons of games i want to be ready for, but i really don't like sifting through information every day to see if a game i want to know about has come out. I tried using Yahoo calendars but that is a lot of hassle to maintain. I want these as alerts. Email, and/or SMS would be sweet.

Thanks again in advance.

Thanks for the suggestions. But pedia and news sites wont notify me automatically via Email or SMS : "Hey there, Mr. Forgetful, did you remember to go guy Goldeneye for the wii today? no? GET TO IT! ITS OUT"

and so on.

If you sign up for a lot of game developer/game distribution website newsletter they tend to send you emails all the time about x and y game coming this week. Also they might send emails about deals of some games. Ex: gamestop, EA store, steam, impulse, etc

I offer this service. For $50 a month, you can give me a list of upcoming games (limit 10) that you would like to updated on. I will inform you changes to the release date, review site "previews," and pre-order options.

I'd recommend using Steam though.

Thanks for trying guys. I was looking for an automated service, but it looks like no ones forthcoming with one. Maybe some one will add this feature to their game review or purchase site.

The steam idea was the best one, but as i stated at the beginning, steam and i are not on friendly terms. I can't trust those guys.

HEY! You guys got me thinking, and i think it helped me to get around the issue. By talking to the mighty anandtech commune, i starting thinking in broader terms. So, I reran my googling for just a generic task reminder, which i guess is all i really needed!

http://task.fm/ is what i found, and its exactly what i needed. This is basically what i imagined when i said to my self that i needed email reminders about release dates. Talking it over with you guys helped. Though, Im not sure who got me thinking along the right lines this time, but i usually find creative solutions after i talk things over with anandtech! thanks again guys! An indirect bit of help is still help!

I has idea. Original postur makes a new game related websight. It will offer release dates thru sms or email and even adds microsoft office outlook calendr meeting dates that u can accept.

It will be the first gaming websight to have sms and email alerts so u know when ur new games are coming out oh yeahhhhhhhhhhh cooooool aid!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh you make money on the sight by having ads ok? dont charge subscription service cuz these cheap fuks wont pay ok?

Uhh, purchase a magazine subscription to PC Gamer? Or is it too much work for you to go to the previews section of the magazine and look at what games are coming?

Steam is pretty much your only bet. I don't know what everyone has against it; it's one of the best services out there.

Why do you say you can't trust Steam? What could they possibly have done to lose your trust?

I just can't remember release dates. I found my solution. task.fm sends me emails when games are released. /problem.
I must have been unclear when i told every one what i wanted. Sorry if i was some how vague. And thanks again, all, for the input.

And to answer simonizor about why i dislike and distrust steam, I don't really want to get in to it too deeply because its just my own opinions and no one agrees with them. But i don't like all the changes they instituted in to steam with out giving me a way to opt out of them. Again, i don't want to have a discussion that will ultimately end in every one telling me i am wrong for not liking these changes. Just know that i understand why you guys might like them, and that i personally do not feel they are the right things for me in a game manager.

The one thing no one can argue though, is this point, and its the reason i have a squicky feeling when i think about steam: they can, at any time, and for any reason, decide to pull the plug on a game. They can just stop letting you play and deny you access to your game library and there isn't a damn thing you can do about it if they decide it is so. This bothers me. You can call me paranoid, but i have yet to see where steam guarantees that if i pay for a game, i will never be denied access to it.
