Any one have tips on how to choose a flight school?

Ever since I was a kid, I've wanted to get a pilot's license. Well, this coming spring, my fiancee will be out of the country for four months, and I'll have some extra time to myself. I was thinking I might just start working on that pilot's license. Anyone got any tips on picking an instructor?

Not having ever done it, I would just say find out how long he has been doing it and maybe ask for some references from some of his students.

Check around the UCD airport. The University flying club rents planes and has instructors available. My husband flew over there once or twice when we were living in Davis.

Check out http://www.beapilot.com/ and look for a flight school near you. I suggest taking an intro flight to see if you are actually interested in becoming a pilot and also get to see what the instructor is like.

what part of the country are you in? I'll look up flight schools convenient to you.

you can easily get your private pilot license in 4 months if you fly 2-3 times a week. I can give you some money saving tips too if you're interested.

Utterman is right, take a few intro flights with different instructors to see who you think you can work with. get a log book on your first day, you can log the time for all the intro flights and it counts towards your private.
