My fiance bought a humidor a few months ago and I think he orders cigars through Thomson or something like that. His favorite through them so far are the Acid cigars. I think they might be infused as well. Tonight he grilled hamburgers and hotdogs and drank beer and smoked a good ole stogie. (I had a pansy Swisher Sweet because they're cherry....Mmmm)

Anyway....are any of you cigar people? He rarely smokes a cigar, but he likes 'em so I was curious.

My Dad smokes them. I don't, but love the smell of cigars and pipe tobacco.

I picked him up a couple Cuban cigars on my recent honeymoon to Cancun.

Speaking of Cubans, Nik. What's the best thing I can do to keep his cigars as fresh as possible?

I obviously don't have a humidor, but have just kept them in the cylinder at room temperature in a plastic bag. They still smell excellent to me, but I hope I've not ruined them.

70 degrees @ 70% humidity.

If that means a plastic bag or keeping them in the metal cylinder or a humidor, it doesn't matter as long as you're keeping it stably right around there. There's no such thing as a "fresh" cigar in the typically used sense of the word. Most cigar companies age the tobacco 12-18 months, even as much as 2 years, before rolling the cigar or if it's already rolled, they'll sit for that long before being sent to distribution.

This from cigargroup.com:

We should not confuse long term aging of cigars with short term maturation. These days, more often than not, cigars are brought to market in a 'green' state; to derive any measure of enjoyment from a 'fresh' cigar, requires a bare minimum of 3 to 4 weeks just to marry the tobaccos, smooth off the roughness in taste, and bring the cigars up to par. On the other hand, long term aging is a process that will mature a cigar to a highly refined state, that greatly alters a cigars character. In Europe (particularly in England), the aging (or laying down) of cigars is a time honored practice, that is just beginning to find popularity in North America.

Do you eat butter? Do you drink coffee? Do you drink carbonated, sugar-loaded, chemical-loaded beverages? I highly doubt you have the perfect intake, so seriously. STFU. :|

He's a n00blet, and a dick to boot. Just let it go.

That said, I smoke the occasional cigar. They're delicious.

I have one occationally. I prefer CAO Bella Vanilla or Heaven Petite Vanilla.

I know, cigar snobs look down their nose at flavored cigars. But Vanilla tastes incredible to me, and I get complements from everyone on how they smell.

Never found anything that I love quite as much as a cigar. A small collection of great cigars kept in a humidor is one of the great pleasures in life.

But yes, so true, no one smokes a swisher for the swisher anymore.

EDIT- Unless your white trash.

Then I 'spose I'm white trash. I like the taste of them. I do also like flavor infused cigarillos that Tim got for me when he ordered his cigars. He also likes the flavor infused cigars. I don't know how many he has, but he has a small humidor and he also has a travel humidor as well. He just started the collection a couple months ago.
