I just bought 2 new games, dying to play them (freelancer and Homeworld 2)... but carpel tunnel and tendonitis is just killing me.

Its like dangling the carrot in front of the horse... all I can do is read the manual and grumble. :)

Take some Advil (anti-inflammatory), it usually helps when my Carpal Tunnel flares up.

my left wrist slightly dislocates when i do forearm curls with heavy weight. my right wrist doesn't though - i broke it in a snowboarding accident. so i guess it is true that bones grow back stonger. woohoo, time to break the left wrist.

Hey, only short guys use the wrist... I use my shoulder :D :p

I have tendonitis, but it wasn't caused by playing... so it doesn't affect it too severely. I got it from work. I'd start investing in more ergonomic equipment now if I were you.

Get a real keyboard. A Microsoft Internet keyboard is the minimum for ergonomics that I'll use. Most OEMs ship machiens with undersized keyboards with light keypresses and a totally flat form.

Granted, these are tolerable from a standing position with the keyboard at higher than waist height, but never sitting and never below.

Go outside. Talk to people. Quit dangling your carrot.

I had carpal tunnel at my old job.
It first started about 6 years ago when I was working at a pizza place.
Every morning I would spend a couple of hours cutting and hand rolling dough.
The wrist pain and numbness got pretty bad so I had to switch shifts and stop rolling dough.
It went away then.
But then I got a janitorial job where I would spend an hour or two each night mopping floors.
So the pain came back.
Now I am a software developer.
So I spend all day using a keyboard, but the keyboarding doesn't bother my wrists at all.
Just make sure you have good ergonomics. Tilt your keyboard so your wrists are NOT bent. Depending on your setup, you may need to actually tilt it down to keep your wrists level.
If you have any pain or numbness at night, get a wrist brace.
If I do yardwork, raking, shoveling, etc. my carpal tunnel comes back. Wearing a brace while sleeping keeps me from sleeping on a bent wrist and making it worse.
