any of you have a modded xbox?

Im not interested in xbox live, but I am still deciding between a ps2 and xbox...

if i get an xbox i want to mod it with a bigger HD so I can use it to play mp3s and divx tv shows and such...

anyone try it with success?




MODS I am not intending to play illegal games, I am just curious how well this would work if I wanted to drop in a larger HD and play some extra media....

They have no solder mods for the xbox. Also if you install a switch for the MOD you can still play on xbox live. They aren't banning them anymore just preventing access for xboxes that have the mod chips enabled.

Honestly, the possibility of modding one for DivX/MP3s and possibly some hot Halo multiplayer is all that has me interested in an xbox. I doubt I'll ever want to play on xbox live, I have my pc for online gaming and my consoles are a nice break from the idiocracy.

What would be really cool is a video-in kit so you could use your xbox as a PVR. I know sony has thought about this, I think it'd be a killer idea.

The mod allows for the bigger hdd and (I believe) a different start up screen, where you can choose what you want to do.

Some people have loaded divx programs, emulators, backups, and mp3 players IIRC.
