Not sure anything is 100% except no sex.

My mom had her tubes tied, yet here I am ;)

Doesn't happen a lot but can still happen even if she does get tubes tied. Not sure on stats of men who were snipped and if they had. I think it would be much better for the man to do it.

I've heard this from several friends already, and it goes something like this....

I had it done Friday afternoon. The doctor said it will feel tender for a couple of days. I felt fine Saturday. I must be Superman, so I mowed the yard. When I woke up Sunday, my balls felt so swollen I swear they were dragging when I went up the stairs. I should've listened to the doctor and just sat there all weekend watching tv....
Yep, I've heard the same things. That's why I said it was very important to take it easy for a couple of days. Even if you feel 100%.

BoberFett,
It hurt like nothing else! I broke the operating bed I was on after the first snip. Threated to kill the doctor before the second snip. Found ice was man's best briend for 48 hours afterwards. For me it was 24 hours of intense pain, 48 more hours of discomfort and a lifetime of not worrying about having anymore "Ooooops".
If you felt pain during the proceedure, then they did something very wrong. Didn't you get a local anesthetic? If so, it wasn't done properly.

Yes, it can be reversed. As for the shooting... It's the same as before. Just no little swimmers. If you didn't tell her that you had a vasectomy, she'd never know.

A former boss actually enjoyed it. Apparently, in addition to the satisfaction of knowing he would not have to worry about impregnating someone, a beautiful nurse shaved his crotch and giggled seductively when his manhood "responded" to her ministrations. He was glowing when he recommended the procedure.

AFAIK, Seman *snicker*, is sperm + liquid......

What you shoot out is just the liquid.....

a)They can't always numb the complete area. This was told to me before the snipped.

b) Valium, percocet, novocain, lanocane, etc has no to little effects on me.

I heard that sometimes people can't get it reversed, but if your going to do this you shouldn't think about reversing it.

I had mine done almost 3 years ago. It was simple.. had a shot of valium (get the shot, not the pill..WooHOO!! ), and a local. There was a little pressure when doc made the incision, and a spit second of discomfort (kinda like getting your balls smashed with a 8 lb sledge hammer, just not quite so bad), and then everything was fine. Went home, crawled up in bed with the suggested ice pack (or frozen peas or corn), and let my wife wait on me all weekend. There was a little residual soreness a couple of days later, but nothing significant. No sex for a few days. Took a sample to the doc 30 days later, and got the all clear. Much easier for the guy to do it than the woman. For her, it is a very invasive procedure, and besides, there will be no action for a lot longer than if you get it done. The failure rate is somewhere in the 1% region. As far as reversal, it is a VERY expensive procedure, and not always successful.

This may have already been addressed but I haven't read the entire thread.

How much does this procedure cost and I doubt HMO's usually foot the bill for this since it's considered an elective surgery, or am I wrong?

Thanks.
