I just ordered one for my car, a white Honda, is there any maintenance to them?
Do you have to take'em off when it rains?
Do you use anything in particular to clean them?
Product Link
I could care less what you think about them, I just need some info please!
Thanks

Every time you park your car you have to take it off and stow it in the trunk so it won't be stolen. Other than that, I think they look pretty nice.

My brother-in-law has one on his Chevy Lumina and looks stupid.

Not saying it will on your car but it does on a Lumina.

Protection
Protects the front end from road tar, rocks and other debris flying around that can do damage to your paint. If you have a super nice car with great paint, you want to protect your investment.

Or you can use it to cover up blemishes that are already on your car.

Somebody has to have some experience with these!!!

so to protect the super nice paint you cover it up with an ugly leather thing?

Actually, the real trade-off is that, while you don't get rock chips, etc., the bra itself is damaging to your paint. Dirt particles from rainwater or what-not will get under the bra and damage the finish. This is why you are supposed to take them off all the time to clean them and to wax your car really good, etc.
Personally, I don't like 'em. Cure worse than the disease.

If your car was designed not to fall apart, or the paint to peel at the first sign of a stone, I guess there's no need for a bra.

I actually didn't know what a car bra was until recently. I am appaled.

American cars will probably need a bra. It's probably redundant for German and Japanese cars.

Why did you get one?

They do nothing and look... (I'll leave out the editorial)

You do know they serve no useful purpose, right?

I have one on my Chevy Cavalier (it's an older model with the squared front, so it doesn't look stupid). It was there when I bought the car used, but I like the way it looks, so it's staying there.

You don't have to take it off when it rains.

When I clean mine, I take off the top part (there's a second part that goes down and under the front of the car, but it's extremely hard to get on and off, so I usually don't mess with it) and scrub it with a brush and once it's dry, I use Armor All on it to help protect the leather.

are you the dumbest person on these boards? Do you hoestly believe that rocks dont chip paint on cars from other coutries? Let me throw a handful of rocks at ANY car and they will all come away with chips, dents and blemishes.

And over time the leather-covered paint will look different the sun-exposed paint.

Yeah, that's the same thing I was gonna say. The only advantage I can see is if you only put it on part of the time - like when driving long distances on the highway to protect the paint from damage, and then leaving it off most of the time. But that kinda defeats the purpose if you want it to look 'cool'.

Paint on the front of my car was peeling off, so I just put the bra on to hide that up. :D

It was too much trouble putitng it on, so I'm not going to bother taking it off.

My dad bought one for his mercedes because he dented the front plastic bumper and it costs $300 to replace the part. So instead of either paying $300 or driving around with a big crack in his car, he bought a bra for l$75... looks pretty good if you ask me.

LOL! That's a really good idea, actually. Although if you have a Mercedes one would expect you could afford to pay the $300.
