Shopping for a mattress anymore is a clusterfuck. I've already got the point where I don't trust the foam beds that ship to your house (have a Casper, lasted 3 years at best) and I don't really like the materials used in store brands either. I'm a heavy guy, a side sleeper, and I sleep pretty hot on this foam crap so I'm trying to get away from that.

What say you?

We've got one from Bed In A Box, bought about 6 or 7 years ago, still holding up very well.

I think we got a Pacbed original, good price and I don't have back issues unless i'm in it for 10hrs (when the GF makes me leave the alarm off on the weekends).

We bought a mattress from Costco for our RV. It’s a Kirkland-branded Stearns and Foster. Pretty nice.

I couple of months ago I bought a Purple Mattress (original style, they have some new designs) and I have been extremely happy with it. The mattress sleeps cool and is very comfortable.

Seriously though look into it. If you like the feel of foam, but not the heat latex foam tends to not suck you in and suffer from the heat issues. Wife's back issues practically disappeared once we got one. Though latex foam is more spendy than memory foam or blends.

Im a jerk but I do have one recommendation.

My Sealy foam mattress is excellent. Had for over 10 years and it still feels like new. Very comfortable. Only problem is its just a little bit thin and keeping sheets from slipping is a pain sometimes.

Someone else mentioned latex, which is what I decided on a few years ago when in the market for a new mattress. Ended up going with Helix, which is latex over pocket coils. A little cheaper than a solid latex and should last a little longer. They use pretty high quality latex, although it's not natural vs synthetic.

The really nice thing is that they give you a little questionnaire to allow you to set your preferences, and then design it to that.

I've had mine for about... 3ish years now, and it's been fantastic. No sagging, perfect firmness. The only thing wrong with it is it's a pain in the ass to move (I've moved houses three times in this span).

I've always been ok with whatever is the slightly lower end model at furniture stores. Basically the fairly standard cloth ones, whatever that's made of. Just make sure the springs don't happen to match the wave length of your local FM station or you start hearing voices at night. (I kid... but I actually wonder if that's ever happened)

I probably would not trust those cheap online ones either. Seems too good to be true. Matresses, as odd as it is, ARE expensive, and you kind have to pay to have something decent. I don't recall how much I paid for mine, but I bought a whole bunch of furniture at the same time too (furnished my whole house) but it was probably under a grand.

I'm still sleeping on a Bob-O-Pedic I got about ten years ago and it's still comfortable and in good shape. I'll probably get something new next year.

I have a Denver mattress for several years and love it. Before this one I had a Stearns & Foster, which was also awesome.

It's all personal taste. I like eurotop, which is memory foam over coils.

Yep. We have a latex mattress and it was a huge improvement. Plus they don't get as hot as memory foam beds. Another upside is that its incredibly easy to get different levels of firmness from them. While we got ours from SleepEZ it seems standard that they treat a Queen\King as two separate sides of between 2 and 4 layers of latex pads. So you can buy a Firm + Firm + Soft latex combo and your wife could buy a Firm + Medium + Soft combo. Slightly too soft for your wife? Re-order her mattresses in Firm + Soft + Medium.

I've been using a queen size Anabelle professional series matress I got from The Dump about 4-5 years ago. It wasn't expensive and it's lasted me this long but one side has gotten less firm than the other and it's annoying now. I usually start looking for another mattress when my lower back starts aching. Most of this could also be from the gym but when I changed mattresses because of this I felt much better.

I'll be looking for a new one now too. Surprised you didn't like the Casper. Coworkers said they really enjoy theirs and I almost ordered one but for 1k I think there's a better option than a bed that comes in a box I suppose.

I bought a TempurPedic about a year ago.

It's not as immediately comfortable as you might think but I sleep better on that thing than on any mattress I've ever owned.

I'm sure I'll get destroyed for this, but we really do love our TempurPedic.

Getting hot while sleeping is an issue for me, so we got the "Breeze" model (or some similar predecessor). It's probably a little cooler than the "regular" mattress we had before, and it's by far the most comfortable thing I've ever slept on. Staying away from home is painful because nothing compares.

No, it's not cheap.

Also -- hi!

Satisfaction with customer support!

After owning my Saatva mattress for a little less than a year, I contacted Customer Support because I felt the mattress had indentations deeper than I expected. After describing my problem to Steve at Customer Support, he told me that he would see that I was satisfied. Within hours of having sent pictures of the mattress, Steve called me, stated that the depth of indentation was highly unusual, and informed me that the mattress would be replaced. I received the new mattress within days.

When I purchased the mattress and the owner of the company called in response to a question I had in "chat", I knew this was a company with which I wanted to deal. My experience with Saatva proves that this company has high quality customer service, and I would recommend this it to anyone looking to purchase a new mattress.

This random bump is timely, in the market for a new mattress now. What did you end up with gorcorps?

How convenient that I was also in the market for another mattress. Starting to wake up with a sore back now from the mattress I've had for about 7 years now.

Will have to go and lookup some of these models. The one I have now I got from a furniture store called The Dump lol. Huge place but not necessarily specializing in mattresses. Although they do have temperpedics and all the big name brands too.

Try Sam's. Bought a $600 queen for the VRBO rental, Serta. The 1st visitor said it beat the heck out of her really expensive tempurpedic at home.

"Financing a mattress" just sounds absurd to me.

I've slept on the same Bob-o-Pedic for about 11 years and I still get a perfect night's sleep with zero body aches. The middle of the bed has softened up a little bit.

Coming up on 7 years with an Ikea memory-foam blend mattress (foam top/wool core) which I'm overall very happy with. I do tend to sleep a little warm but overall still sleep very well and don't wake up sore ... paid $550 out the door in 2013.
