For those of you who are regulars here but don't often visit forsale, I'm wondering if you're wanting to dump your Radeon and get a Geforce again. I have an ELSA DDR card if you're interested. 😉

If you don't like your Radeon, perhaps you could tell me why? (I head choruses of "drivers" aleady...) 😀
 
GF3 received and installed(AND LOVIN' IT!!), Radeon on E-bay. Before the Radeon I had the Geforce DDR, but the 2d was really bad(that was the only reason I got the Radeon). The GF3 has very good 2d at the resolution I use. I am never gonna go back to ATI for videocard solutions.

I think all of ATI's leaked driver releases are either hacks by users or just relabeled files. They hardly ever fix anything.
 
I upgraded from a Radeon to the GF3. I was extremely happy with the Radeon, and still think its a fantastic card. Great 2D, 3D, image quality. I never had any beef with the card at all. I'll be looking at the Rad II when it comes out.
 
Now Im pissed, I dumped my Gforce drr for a Radeon 64 just to improve the 2d quality. I should have just waited and got a GF3 and paid premium instead of wasting a month getting my Radeon to run properly in Win2k. Anybody interested in Radeon 64 at a nice price.

Heh, Oldfart went to a GF3?! Man...I won't be ditching my Radeon, trying to cut down on gaming, so no more upgrading for me. 😉

Radeon still holds ground, just because the Geforce3 is out doesn't mean the rest go hittin' the brick wall and that current games we play suddenly come to a screaching halt. Geforce3's technologies won't be exploited full-speed ahead anytime soon yet, so its still feasible to get a lowerend end interim card that meets today's gaming needs and at the same time help you wait till the time comes with prices of these cards start falling and more video card options come afloat.

I play NFS5, NFS4, Giants, The Sims, MM1, MM2, and a few others....all do fine on bro's Radeon AIW/CeleronII-800mhz setup so its all good. Although his Radeon does have better 2D/3D, his monitor turns out to be a big dissappointment, so the benefits of having a Radeon for those characteristics are neutralized. I prefer a Geforce3 (replacing my Riva128 PCI) on my Trinitron tube, thx 🙂

Yeah, I went to (maybe from) the dark Side 😉 I didn't need an upgrade, but am a hardware junkie and couldn't help myself. The GF3 is really a fantastic card. Its fast as all git go, and has great visual quality and great 2D. There is not much to not like. I still like the Radeon cards and will help out answering questions. Only problem is it will now be hard to check out new drivers. I'm thinking of maybe picking up an LE and putting it in one of the kids PC's.

BTW, some of the &quot;new guard&quot; such as Rellik and rbv5 and others have been doing a great job helping out!

I am not sure if everyone is on the same page. I hear ATI customers saying how they play with so and so on their ATI Radeon card are just fine. Am I too picky? I love playing at 1280x1024 with all the features turned on. All the ATI AIW Radeon's that I have tried and even one 64MB Radeon didn't quite cut it. You can definately tell a difference between 30FPS and 60FPS in a First Person Shooter and it does affect my gaming. I am much more accurate with a Geforce 2 Pro/Ultra than I am with an ATI Radeon. A friend who has always had NVIDIA cards and had a GTS got an AIW because he also wanted to capture video but he was also not happy with the performance. He is picky just like me. I think performance is relative. I don't see how someone who is running a Celeron II with an ATI AIW can enjoy their games image quality as much as an NVIDIA customer with a Pro or Ultra or Geforce 3 and a Pentium III or Athlon. I think that customers who own a Geforce 2 Ultra/Pro or Geforce 3 are still getting more enjoyment than ATI Radeon customers get. It isn't money completely wasted.

Well you'd be wrong. As you'll recall I have had all the nVidias up to the 64 meg GTS and on my admittedly very fast system, the Radeon was and still is the single best upgrade I've ever done in 25 years of computing. Superbly fast and great looking.

LOL. I am barely 25 years old and you have been into computing for 25 years. Man your old Taz. Sorry. I just didn't realize you were an old folky.
 
Well, neither of us are hardcore FPS junkies as we mostly play racers. Just finished playing NFS5 @ 1280*1024*32 with all things maxed and it still ran smooth on his system. Whether it was runing at 30 or 60 fps I can't tell, but if I can't tell then it doesn't really matter does it....all it matters is I'm enjoying my game 🙂

Believe it or not, tried 1600*1200*16bit and it was still acceptable, just minor jerks here and there, I'm not too bothered by that.

Like many others though, bro is having capture problems as well. Mixing and match drivers with multimedia drivers lends some stability. Indeed it is true that we pay the kind of money we did for the card and still have to go thru all this nonsense. Makes me wonder how family folks who bought brand name retail systems with the Radeon AIW coped with it. My guess is there was prolly lots of help desk calls made 😉

Like I said, I mainly play racers, and FPS isn't the only thing we dig. I value quality and visuals over fps, provided there's fps to spare.

Its really to each's own I guess whether you say Geforce owners get the advantage over who ever else's brand of card. It all comes down to who prefers what over what, and that's their basis for evaluation.

I really like the Radeon, and it seems to do quite well at the games I play, and at the 1024x768 32bit I like to play at. I'm definately going to wait to see what the RadeonII? will have to offer before I buy a Gf3. By that time the Gf3 will be more than reasonably priced, and games that support all the nice features ought to be close to release. The RadeonII will have to be competitivly priced to boot.
