P4 1.6A
Asus P4S333
Samsung PC2700 DDR 256MB
Enermax 350W PS

Plan to OC this like everybody. If you have good/bad experience with any of these parts please tell me so I can buy this ASAP or consider another option. TIA

Do the Intel based chipsets OC better than SiS645s?

*edit* Abit IT7 MAX looks like a freaking monster of a motherboard...but cost $60 more for the extra features.

bad board choice for a 1.6A.

if you want a SiS chipset get the P4S533 board - or better yet get a p4b266-c or an abit bd7-ii.

Sounds like a good combo, I was planning something similar but I'm not sure if I wanna battle it out w/ my old PC133 SDRAM and get and old MB or go all out and get the P4S333 w/ DDR memory....

I wouldn't say "bad". It is a good board. At least with the P4S5333 bios. I am running stable at 2.32ghz

And yeh I would also recommend the P4S533.... and if you are going to do extreme OC ( over 160 FSB ) than get a P4b266-c or Abit...

You might want to consider a different PSU. Research this some more, but I remember hearing that some Enermax PSUs had issues delivering large amounts of 3.3V and 5V power or something. The Antec TruePower 330W seems to be quite nice, and I'm buying one soon for my next system.

follow what god say... go with with a different mobo... either p4b266-c or abit...
not saying anything wrong with p4s333...but if you want to go over 2.4GHz... you should get either of those 2 boards above... speaking from experience...

what makes the IT7 a bad choice? by incorporating all the onboard stuff doesn't it make the overall system faster?

actually ive been hearing some very nice things about the IT7.
its not for everyone - but its getting alot of praise from overclockers.

it has no PS2s, lots of USB, and a 4 port ide raid :Q

i'm glad you have a higher opinion than before but besides agp 8x and serial ata, is there anything this board lacks?

what would you need to plug in besides the video card? (assuming you're not building some kind of specialty machine)

wouldn't this thing be faster than any other board that has pci cards in it?

am i incorrect? someone stop me before i buy the damn thing

hey this may seem like a stupid question, but do the socket 478 boards require the p4 atx layout where the cpu heat sink mounts to the case? I dont want to buy a new case to go to a p4.

I think most of the newer motherboards doesnt require you to mount the bracket onto the case anymore....at least for several of the MSI and VIA boards. Though seems like from the pictures, Asus and Abit boards are using those easy brackets also.

Anyway I'm gonna listen to you guys and might consider Abit BD7-II or P4S533. I wont go the OC extreme, just gonna try bumping the fsb to 133 to 150 or so. IT7 is a little too extreme hehe, I like all the stuff on it, but not sure if I'd like to throw in the extra $40 or $50 for all the nice extra features that I know I'll never use (and it happened before :) ). And I'll definitely consider another power supply (Antec like Sukhoi said).
