Any numismatists or philatelists here?

My brother passed earlier this year and, when going through his things, my sister found lots of coins and stamps - loose, rolled, in sets, mounted, etc.. Neither of us know anything about stamps or coins. So. My question is this. How should we go about finding a reputable dealer in her town to assess values? They would probably have to go to her house as the coins would be too heavy for her to carry. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

The coins are probably worth more than the stamps. I am a stamp collector. The easiest way to get rid of the stamps is to get a dealer to give you a quote. You can find reputable dealers who are members of the American Philatelic Society. You can find a list of dealers through their website.

Any pics of some of the coins? Any quarters/dimes/half-dollars/dollars minted on or before 1964? Those would be 90% silver coins worth some bucks outside of numismatic value.

Yes, there would be some of those. Thanks. I'll let Sis know to look for them. My dad started it all. He would get bags of loose coins from the bank and we would all sit around the dining room table looking at the coins for certain dates or mints. When done, we'd put the coins left in rolls and Dad would sell them back to the bank. When he died my brother was the only one interested in it all and he took over.

haha both my parents did the same, mainly with pennies. Looking for wheat pennies mostly I think.

Did he have anything graded that are in plastic holders? Perhaps from NGC or PCGS?

Oh, we were all sure that one day, one day, we would find that perfect 1909-S VDB penny. It never happened, but we had fun looking for it.

Don't know about the grading, but will ask.
