Any night runners here?

It's quite hot over here, and even mornings and evenings can be uncomfortably warm for my taste. So I'm thinking of running at night, say 1-2 am.
Are there night runners among us, and if so, what are your experiences?

Or . . you could peruse Craigslist for used exercise equipment and avoid enhancing the odds of being hit by an impaired or distracted night time driver.

On occasion, I run at night. I only run on roads and would be concerned about tripping over a fallen branch or something on a trail at night.

When I do run at night, I am sure to use extra reflective material (most shoes, shorts, and shirts come with it now days). I'd guess you'd want a head lamp at night. I used to use a blinking light clipped onto the back of my shorts. Blinking lights are pretty easy to find around Halloween time. It's great to buy a bunch right after they go on clearance after Halloween. They are made pretty cheaply and don't last very long.

If you are switching to night running because of daytime temps, I'd be surprised that running at 9 - 10pm wouldn't be close to the same temp as 1 - 2am. For me, running at 9pm means that I could still shower and sleep after my run while still getting to bed and up for work at a reasonable time. To run at 2am would kill my already lousy sleep schedule.

FWIW: I hate running on a treadmill. If you've never used one, I'd suggest trying it before spending a significant amount on a treadmill.

It's coldest outside around 6-8 a.m., unless some evening rain makes for constant night time temperatures.
But generally, there's no advantages to running nights. It messes up your sleep cycle, and you're in the dark and can't see jack.

Stick to dawn, and getting out the door at 5:30 a.m. in the summer, and you'll have the coolest part of the day, just before the sun rises.

Night time running is awesome but I don't do it much past 10 pm.

The first time I did it, it was almost a religious experience.

I am also a proud Connecticut residence that loves to run in the cold. I've done runs in near zero degree temperatures. People must think I am nuts when they drive by 😉 No where near as bad in playing hockey in sub zero temps.
