Low Profile, not looking to overclock, but provide good cooling even in turbo mode. Currently, I'm running factory Intel from a i7-4790 HSF.

I want something stylish, not flashy. I would like to stay away from towers with a side fan, if possible. What are you favorites? This is going inside a In-Win 901 case mini-itx case

budget?

because we can point you to blingy ones like noctuna, however they can cost upwards of 45-80 dollars... or we can point you to cheap ones like scythe which wont break 30 dollars...

also how low profile do you need? do you have a psu sitting ontop of the cpu socket?

Do you intend to overclock? Seeing how its a K cpu, the temptation must be there, hence if your looking for a solid performer which is low profile, you may need to look at AIO's.

Arctic Alpine 11 plus

Just installed one on my 1156 i3-530 (cost $16 Canadian).

Quite impressed actually, and I think the thermal ratings on this HSF combo are on the conservative side.

It would be better (and quieter) than the stock Intel HSF, but not by a large amount as the heatpipe tower coolers are. Low profile and economic.

I have a Cryorig M9i that's keeping temps on a i5-6600k low at stock, at idle and load. Only $19.99 on Newegg. It is a tower heatsink with a fan, but it's not massive (124.6mm height)

Tower coolers tend to have the best price/perf. Unfortunately, In Win 901 only has 127mm of clearance. Few tower coolers are lower than that - True Spirit 90M is one.

If you want low profile, go with Noctua L9x65 $60 shipped at amazon or $50 at newegg (out of stock). It's pretty powerful for a compact cooler and fits easily on any mini-ITX board.

Yep, that should fit, with only 2mm of space left. Much better purchase for $20 than the True Spirit 90M for $35.

if you want something that blows down on the board tho:
Thermalright axp-100 does a great job for a 50 dollar heat sink.

EDIT: removed be quiet! Dark Rock low profile HSF link, as it's unfortunately a few mm too tall to fit in your case

This Deepcool HSF looks promising. Haven't used the Gabriel model myself (though I did put it's big brother Lucifer in a recent build - really good cooling results, but like a review for the Gabriel points out, the clips aren't great... minor complaint, though, and I generally like Deepcool fans), but bookmarking if I need a low profile HSF in near future:

I eventually went with the artic alpine 11 plus. Looks awesome as well is slightly better than factory cooling in that tiny case!

Just curious at that budget why you arent looking at aio water cooling solutions? No room in the case or just not a "fan" of them =P

Why should he be? He's not even overclocking - it'd be a waste of money. And AIO's aren't as quiet as quiet HSF's, in general.

besides that, AIO's doesn't have a clean fit in my case :)

The thing that generates the most noise is the GPU anyways.

Thanks for those pic's. Great little cases those In-Win 901, although things look a little tighter in that case than I thought they were from the initial pictures I saw of them.

That HSF goes well with the aesthetics and clean layout theme you have going on in that case. Nice build, congrats.

thanks! yeah temps are fine, and it'll game all day just fine.

Some Doom, Tomb Raider, NFS, too much... too bad none I really enjoy... I'll try that quantum game from the MS Store.

*update* Yeah Quantum Break doesn't support 21:9 so I returned it... damn pitty too...
