I am considering getting a 939 a64 but I want a nforce3 250Gb chipset. Does anyone who will be releasing them and when?

This is what I'm waiting for. I thought Asus was releasing a board called A8N but I can't confirm this. Can anyone confirm wether this board is coming out or not?

I emailed DFI because I am interested in their new LanParty nF3 Ultra-D.
They got back to me yesterday saying not until July. I would imagine there will be initial offerings from multiple manufacturers at least by mid july.

I already have my MSI k8n neo pro Plat. (NewEgg $147). It has everything and works great. Running A64 3000+ @3400 speed - rock solid. Less than 60 degrees at load with Swiftech HS and YS Tech TMD fan. Read review here 754 roundup.
Some bad mouth MSI, don't know why - as good as any other maker. Everyone has a dud or two, not everyone has a winner, IMHO.

It's not a 939 board though.

hehe, yeah, that's what i was thinking :)
although many people are saying the 754 will be fine for quite a while to come, and the 939 isn't needed, as the upgrade path for the 754 is fairly decent.. but i am not sure, I may still hold off for the 939 also.

I have not upgraded the CPU by itself since the Cel 300a days. I wonder how it is with you guys...

Getting a S939 board now also means that you'll have to pay at least ~$500 for the CPU. The only serious advantage I see in S939 right now is that you actually have 4 DIMM slots onboard instead of 2.

Unless you can or want to wait a couple of months for a fat price drop (and maybe also PCI Express) I'd just settle for a S754 board and a cheaper A64.

BTW, I'm still on a barton... also planning on upgrading within a month.

Yea I was going to wait, but 754 is just fine and cheap. And I figured no matter when I buy my hardware, there is always going to be something right around the corner. So I bought that value Chaintech for 80 bucks I can replace the board later this year with a 2nd rev.

Nvidia announced its new chipset "nForce3 Ultra MCP" in the COMPUTEX TAIPEI a week ago.
Features include:

-Socket 939
-Native Gigabit Ethernet Controller: I/F compatible, GbE PHY compatible
-NVIDIA Firewall
-Advanced RAID Support for SATA/PATA
-Support for next generation 3Gb/s SATA

They don't have a release date yet but they speculate this should be ready this fall, and the addition of the 3Gb/s SATA will come out in the end of this year.

I'll be hoping that the socket 939 Athlon64 3400s will be around $200 by the time this monster comes out :)

no, but the K8N Neo 2 Planinum is... its the "nVidia nForce3-250Gb Reference Board" from the recent S939 article. Its not quite the K8N Neo (S754 out now), but it looks like its got most of the same features.

also, the Asus A8N is K8T800 Pro, and is availible at newegg.

I am definatly looking forward to that MSI board, I have heard nothing but great things about the s754 version so I shall assume the 939 will be equal quality and features. I am hoping that the delay on this board is just teh release of further pci-e stuff as the nf3-250 does support all the pci-e we could want.

Check out the Gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP-939

It's nForce3 Ultra. I have no idea how that is different from the nForce3 250 or 250 GB...anyone else?

Any comments on this board on anything other than price??? It's available at NewEgg.

I think they're just calling the socket 939 version of the chip "Ultra", because it supports 1000mhz hyper transport. (But do socket 939 chips support that yet?)

Yes, the 3500+, 3800+ and FX-53 all support it. At least I am 95% percent positive

The 939 also supports the dual channel memory (5% increase in real performance)
