would be great for a HTPC screen, but the internet has collectively gone silent on this in the last few months.

has there been any news recently that would indicate Dell is still intending to release a 27" widescreen with a 1920x1200 resolution around October 2006?

Imo 27" with 1920x1200 is pushing the pixel size a bit. 24" seems to be the sweet spot for 1920x1200.

I haven't heard anything new about it though.
 
Just doing a Google search and came across this, doesn't appear to be anything new since March. I am hoping that the price on this is at a good position (~$1250-$1500). It seems to be a good compromise on resolution and size. Need to get either a 24" or a 27" for my media center...
 
i'm thinking the same thing.

i wonder when they might drop new info if this screen is going to exist?
