Any news on if there's a new iPod Mini coming out?

Girlfriend's birthday is on Jan 30th... so I'm going to have to order a month in advance to make sure I get the damn thing, but is there anything new on the way?

I'd hate to spend that kind of money and then have them unleash one later on, but if that's the case I guess I'll just have to deal with it...

They're always making new ones... but ipod mini is fairly new.. i figure they'll introduce something 6-8 month after release.. always something around x-mas

edit: yeah, the carbon is slightly smaller, has a longer battery life, and looks a bit more elegant. However, i don't think it's quite as trendy- something that girls seem to care a bit more about =\

Won't point out any of the other stuff (there's a lot), but I will mention that the minis have a known issue with the headphone jack - apparently its connection to the PCB is very cheap/weak and tends to break, leading to crackling audio or no audio. Pink or not, if it doesn't work I have my doubts as to whether she'll like it...

I got my GF one, and a month later, they came out with the 4th gen one... who cares, that's life.

the iPod is a POS BTW, I would recommend something else. (anything)

I doubt it is due for an update in the immediate future.

As for how nice they are, I have a 2G 10GB iPod and its still running like a champ. And that Carbon thing is a hideous monstrosity (to me anyway). But, maybe the poster is right about us girls liking how the iPods look more. 😛

well, it's definitely vying for a less trendy crowd. but a 'monstrocity' should only be reserved for things bigger than the iPod mini, not smaller =P
