I realize Intel has been moving the date around but I was wondering if they had a new official date or they just saying Q1?

It's just Q9550. Not an extreme edition. But it's been said as either February 12th or March 15th. Take your pick.

I have no idea what the "official" date is, but I'm guessing that it might appear around the same time the fixed Phenom stepping arrives...

Why 9550? $500+ is still expensive for a CPU. 9450 is what everyone is looking for. It's only $316 in batches of 1000, has 12MB of cache and should overclock just as good as any other Q9x50.

the 9550 will overclock better because of the higher multiplier when fronted against quad core power consumption & FSB limitations.

Dang, I wish AMD would release some good stuff soon, the lack of competition is driving me crazy as it basically delays all the goodies I'd like to buy :)

do you really think it will overclock that many dollars better? cause i'm seriously considering a 9550 vs 9450 but i run into the block oc .5 multi better..it's not even a whole step. do you see more reasons that i'm not?

get the Q9450.

with the money you save just upgrade the heat sink to a better one. Like a Thermalright Ultra120EX. Or a Tuniq Tower.

Too much stock of current 65nm quads:( Intel won't be dropping the Q9XXX chips until one of two things happen.
1. They clear the stock of current 65nm chips
2. AMD releases something competitive

I guess it may be out next week but right now prices are pretty dang high - no surprise just not what I'd be hoping. I'll try to hold out until it drops to $565 before I buy.

Why not consider the Q9450? Only slightly slower, but at around $350 is a heck of a lot cheaper for 95% the performance.

Are you sure about that? I don't see any of those threads, nor do I see any stores that have it in stock.

http://www.stalliontek.com/product_p/eu80569pj073n.htm Has 6... In stock..

But still, why not go q9450? It's a .5 multiplier difference for $200... Seems like a waste to me... But then again, not my money.. I'll see how much fsb I can get out of my q9450 when it comes in... Seems like everyone believes it'll be stuck around 3.6 to 3.8 on air, but we'll see...

Why are you resurrecting outdated threads?

The index of new topics is here:

I'm not sure what my choice was - should I have started a new thread - does it really matter which thread I post my question in if there are several on the same topic?

As for the Several stores who have them in stock - I only know of one - and in the thread about that one - people mention those are engineering samples so it wouldn't be a good idea to buy from them - would you have prefered I had replied in that thread?

markfw900 and I just bougth X3350's. This is the same cpu as Q9450. I got mine for $323.98 from moogr.com. That is a pretty steep price difference for .5x multiplier imho to get the Q9550.

I also got one from them. To anyone considering the Q9550, please send me a Paypal transfer of $100 before buying it, since apparently you have $ to burn :D

It's like walking on broken glass when it comes to public forums. In one forum you would get replies like "try using the search button, that's what it's for" where another forum you get "why are you resurrecting outdated threads". You get burned no matter what you do.

One of my friends bought from them a while ago, got his chip delivered really fast. + resellerratings.com has a 10/10 for them.

that makes me feel much better. I really wanted the Q9450 even though I know that there's no difference, but I'm now extremely glad that I went this route.

Thread "necros" are considered bad form, and people on The Internet are grumpy bastards. Anyway, there's no need to refer to old information when we have:

X3320 (Q9300) and X3350 (Q9450) available!
and
Newegg has Q9300 oem
Legit retail products, from multiple stores. Go forth and spend!
