Any new info / benchmarks on the 7900?

Well, has anything else been leaked? Because so far all the leaked info has been crap.
With weird processor set ups and so on.

I'm just really exited about this, first time ATI may take that performance crown in a year or two from the off. I've just got a refund for my X1900 XTX, so I can now buy the same card at a much cheaper price P) or buy the 7900 GTX tomorrow.
Prices have just been cut on X1900's in the UK, with the Powercolor X1900 XT (not XTX) going for an absolutely amazing £317!!!

Never in the last 2 years have you been able to get this kind of new released GPU muscle at such a cheap price.

I just rang Overclockers UK, and they already have stock of all 7900 products, theyre just not allowed to put them on the site yet (obviously!).


Just a last question, I'm thinking of picking up the Powercolor X1900 XT at £317, but is it hard to flash it to an XTX? And is there any danger in doing this? And will it actually give XTX performance?
The XTX version (Powercolor and HIS) I believe are only £30 more. Alternatively I could get the Connect3D X1900 XTX for only £25 more.

What do you guys think?

Realised this would be a pretty pointless thread lol.
But does anyone know details on flashing the XT to an XTX?

Risky? Hard to do? Does it genuinly increase performance? Is it likely to damamge the GPU?

You could just overclock the XT...

But flashing the XT to XTX poses no real danger unless you have no idea how to flash video cards

Ok, well I cant imagine it would be that hard.

But just to clarify, the XTX and XT do actually use exactly the same hardware?

For £317 that's a god damned steal, lol. Not a huge amount of point waiting for the 7900's as the 7900GTX 512 will likely be around £400 and not perform much better if at all.

Personally i cant wait to see how it shapes up. No one really knows what the UK price is likely to be, but if the X1900's are going for so cheap, surely UK stores cant expect to sell 7900 GTX's at more then £400?

The main reason i want to wait for the 7900 GTX is because I prefer the cooling on it.
But I'm willing to sacrifice temps for extra performance anyday.
Noise levels dont bother me so much though.

That 7900 GTX (512mb GTX) heatsink is just so well designed imo.
ATI should take note, equal airflow across both sides of the card, heatpipes aswell drawing in more cooling, especially if you have additional case GPU cooling fans.
Not to mention the twin heatsinks and bigger fan, and wider area ventilation to dissapate heat.

I'd jump on the heatsink if it was available via 3rd party ala Zalman/Silencer. As it stands I just bought a X1800 CF setup for FEAR & possibly Oblivion. If the 7900GT/GTX is as good as the X1900's then i'll replace my ageing 780GT's with them & hope for the cooler to become available seperately (unless I end up getting 7900GTX).

I think the 7900GT is an aftermarket cooler away from getting damn near 7900GTX clocks/performance...this could get interesting once the Accelero and VF900 are out in quantitiy...

The GT cooler is utter turd.
It doesnt even cool the memory modules and what the hell?
Its like the size of a penny.

Not good, but i highly doubt many AT members will be keeping that heatsink on their 7900 GT's
