Any New Ideas

I put myself together a new PC ...I have overclocked my CPU, have a high speed 92mm fan on the Xp90, would the TT Big Typhoon be better solution? or Maybe the stock heatpipe solution from AMD. If you have any ideas please let me know.

Well the XP90 is a pretty damned hard act to beat. If you were to swap out the fan on the TT Big typhoon it'd probably knock a degree or three off your temps, but with the stock setup and a high speed Xp90 you won't see much improvement.

Unless you're talking about noise, because that's a whole different world.

My overclocked Opty 165 runs about 40c under load. The big 120mm fan does run quiet. The only problem I had with the Typhoon was mounting it to the DFI board....It needs longer screws (any hardware store) to mount it to the dfi board...I never ran any other heatsink so I can not compare to anything else..

There's really no way to replace an XP-90 and expect better temps...maybe by about 1 or 2 degrees, but otherwise the only thing to do after that is to go water.

My temps are running around 50-52c with the Xp90 and a 92mm thermaltake fan. I have the fan and it is running at 2800rpm's it can go to 3900rpm's. I like the fan as it works very well for me..I can adjust fan speed. I was thinking of getting a new heatsink...going bigger but what I did was to add another fan in my case and it took the CPU temp down 3-4c and that will be good for me. Always looking for ways to keep my CPU and case cooler.

just wondering if u live in the UK or US....?

if UK... are u interested in donating an old XP-90 to a good cause??? 😛

Theres a guy in the fs/t forum with a scythe ninja for $25 shipped if interested. 😛 Dunno if you want that one but just fyi.

Just *upgraded* today from a XP90C w/ 92mm Panaflo to a stock TT Big Typhoon. Temps before were 25C idle to 48C load; they are now 27C idle and 43C load. This is idenctal setup with just a straight swap. YMMV.
