Thats something I'm interested to know to, I wonder if WD might be working on a 3rd generation raptor or something, as I'll be building an all new rig soon and getting an Nforce 4, and was going to get a 74GB raptor, but I dunno if I should hold off.

Where did you get this from?

If ur looking for performance then get 2 Raptor SATA 1000rpm drives and run them in RAID Stripe mode. You'll get dual bandwidth speeds with low access and read times. If ur using it for games then don't install the OS on the same partition as them. Use another hard drive to hold the OS and the 2 raptors for the games as the constant file swapping of the os will fragment the drive. This should be ample for anything u want to run these days, and won't be 2 expensive either....

What if you load the OS strickly on your RAM, then can you install it on the same drive? I figure the best I can afford for a HD is $150, so I figured I'd get a 74GB Raptor.

I want a Seagate with 16mb of cache but 400GB is more than I want in a single drive. The most I want in a single drive right now is 250GB... I rather run 2x250 than have a single 400. I'm sure that a single 400GB drive will cost more than 2x250 also, so it makes more sense to just get the two drives.
