Hello,

I need a new monitor for business first, games second. The 16x9 or 16x10 is a must. The 32" or larger is a must. 1440p minimum (4k would be nice). any good gaming features would be a huge plus. HDMI 2.0 a plus. DP 1.4 a huge plus.

What about getting a smaller TV?

What are the business requirements for the display? Color accuracy, etc.

What about a curved screen?

Edit: Almost forgot, what is your budget?

You will not find better bang for the buck than using a "small" HDTV as a monitor. The Sony 830C is a giant IPS 4K display that supports 1080p120Hz and 4K60Hz over HDMI 2.0. I don't own one, but I have connected a PC to one and it looks wonderful. Input lag isn't as good as a dedicated gaming monitor, but it's pretty good.

I basically want a monitor for long periods of reading - TVs for whatever reason at any resolution still seem fuzzy with extended reading IMHO. I'd like it to sit on my desk next to my other monitor so ideally it would be similar in shape and size. Under $2000 for the budget. I'm not against a curved screen but I don't want an ultrawide unless it is a 50" 21:9 with super high resolution.

Business is my primary use but I want gaming for after hours and TVs often have lag.

I thought you wanted 32" or larger?

I'd recommend trying the 43" Sony 830C before you abandon the idea. 43" 4K is the equivalent PPI of a 21" 1080p monitor... but four of them in a 2x2 grid. The softness is usually a result of a TV not deactivating its picture settings. As long as you set it to PC mode/game mode, you will probably like it. I know that I did. I've seen them on sale for $550... that's hard to beat!

I do want 32" or larger. However 34" is about as big as I could go with my desk and two monitors. If they made a 50" 21:9 I could probably just get one monitor. 2 42" monitors would take up too much real estate and be a little too tall.

Got it, I wish you luck on your quest.

I'm using an HP Envy 34c which is fantastic for productivity as I can get 3 windows side by side on it and the curve makes reading from the edges much easier on my eyes. Gaming is good to and I don't get any lag or ghosting playing bf3/4 or Titanfall.
