Any Mulsims here? Question about halal food

From what I understand it is ok to eat deer. But if the deer was not killed in a Dhabihah manner why is it permissible to eat deer?

There are some muslims who own a local corner store. During hunting season they accept deer meat from hunters. In fact, the mulsims ask the hunters if they have any spare deer meat.

In other words, is there a special exception for wild animals and the way they are killed as compared to domesticated animals?

My boss is not strict about halal as long as no pork is involved in any way. Others I know hold to the strictest interpretation of halal.

I'm not sure when, exactly, it happened, but the neighborhood field I used to fly my module rockets in changed from the local game meat processor to a Halaal meat place at some point in my life. IIRC, a couple of my friends mentioned that the owners were Muslim back when we were still kids and called the place "Cut 'n' Cure" (they worked a few odd jobs there). It's like there is some kind of connection between the two. 🙂

I have a few Albanian friends who were raised Muslim. According to them, many Albanian Muslims are the "wine-drinking & pork eating" variety. To each his own...

Agreed. I think it is cruel how the animal cannot be stunned prior to slitting the throat. Its inhuman.

We used to raise rabbits for meat and I would be hard pressed to slit the throat of a resisting. squirming animal. Now try doing it to a powerful beast like a cow, pig or even a goat? I think it's asking to get hurt. We used to hit the rabbits on the back of the head with the blunt end of the meat cleaver and then slit their throats; this made the process so much easier.
