Are there any motherboards out now that will be able to run new cpu's next year? I wanna get a mobo and Q6600 and OC it then hopefully drop new processor in it when they come out... is that possible?

Have seen a few users with 45nm quads and IP35 Pro. The latest 14 BIOS should also extend this capability to IP35/IP35-E boards.

Most major-brand p35/p38 should support these. My MSI does out of the box w/out a BIOS upgrade.

My new Asus Maximus Formula X38 XFire mobo supports the new 45nm Intel CPUs and a 1333MHz FSB.

Just for clarification, these boards will support the upcoming 45nm Wolfsdale and Yorkfield processors in early '08. The Nehalem launching later (Q4 or so, I'm not looking it up for this :p) family will require a new motherboard.

Your question was probably answered before I got here but I though this would help. :3

pretty new which may mean bios issues..and from what i've seen pretty pricey..i just bought the gigabyte p35 ds4 and had the gigabyte p965-ds3 before that..only changed the board cause the ds3 may not be compatible with the new quads coming out..both the ds3 and ds4 have been rock solid. you can get a p35 ds3 likely for less than a 100 bucks. i went with the ds4 not because i need firewire and such, but because i've been itching to get into a board with heatpipes:)

Gigabyte P35 boards have a BIOS update that will allow support. Most manufacturers should have something like this.
