Ugh. 3 weeks out and still no tray prices for our shiny new quads and hexs.

E5620 and L5640 are the ones i am eyeing.

I really have no use for hex core though right now though, as i'd be hardcore limited by my disk array rather than the cpu.

8 core is beckton. 130W TDPs, really expensive infrastructure because the have welded the buffers from the old FB DIMM technology right down on the systemboard. They are targeting the RISC market with those products.

Interesting that in the standard power (E series) they only have 4 core. Standard power is 70-75% of all server parts sold. Odd that they aren't putting 6-core down there.

8 core becktons will need its own socket.

Not compatiable with LGA1366.

The boards also cost thousands of dollars.

But its intels 4P socket.

Also i had xeon info posted up on 2-16 😛

lol... true..

i dont think anyone has a fully accurate price sheet yet.

Well since the exchange rate is damn near 1:1 with canada now... This is the most accurate info i could find.

$450ish for the E5620 is a bit steep. The E5630 is absent from the list and instead replaced by the L5630... ugh.
