So just recently I heard their latest single Float On. I thought they were a new band, but a discography search revealed that they've been around for a while.

Anybody else like that song/group?

Been a fan since '96. If you are interested you should check out their older stuff, e.g. This is a long drive...

I'm kinda curious as to the effects they used to create that unique sound - it'd be a fun song to play on the guitar :)

Have you heard any of their other songs?

Long Drive is a really good album. I'd recommend it.

Their latest (w/ Float On) is a solid album as well. Most of their stuff takes a couple times through before it starts falling into place. Good stuff.

Their best album is Lonesome Crowded West, be sure to pick it up. I'm still kind of pissed about the show of theirs I saw recently. It was 45 minutes long. I got there late, so I saw 20 minutes. I drove an hour and a half to see the show. Motherfvckers.

Get The Moon and Antarctica! Best albulm of theirs overall, imo. My favorite songs are on Long Drive..., Lonesome Crowded West, and even Building Nothing Out of Something though. Also, if you decide MM does tickle your fancy check out Isaac's side band Ugly Cassanova, which is also really good. :)

Ya the new album is pretty good. It's rare that I like a song on the first listen, but i immediatly like float on.
You might want to check out the following songs: tiny city made of ashes, a different city, I came as a rat, paper thin walls to name a few.

I find their music to be irritating at best. My friend was really into them like 7 years ago and everytime he played their stuff I had no taste for it.

I really HATE that this album has become so enormous. Why is it a great indie band rleases so many great albums, then releases something so mediocre and it's a hit? I don't get it. Lonesome Crowded West and This Is A Long Drive For Someone With Nothing To Think About are 100 times better then that new crap they call an album. Sigh.

Haha for having a username as such you should realize very rarely can a band have commercial success and stick with their roots.

Ah, get over it. This really is a much weaker albulm than their previous ones, and I do miss the cold western soundscapes. Still, I think it's great that so many people are getting into Modest Mouse. Sure beats the hell out of almost everything else they play on MTV/radio stations/where ever else people get their dose of pop culture from. :p

Had to bump this thread, cuz I just discovered these guys.

And I've been listening to techno/trance/dance/electronica (Whatever YOU want to call it :p) for years now.

Good stuff. "Float On" is such a great catchy song.

Also just heard that Jerimiah Green, the old drummer, is now back with the band again. They are also about to release a new video for Ocean Breathes Salty (A much better song than Float On imo), and have planned a new tour in response to Lolapalooza being cancelled. :)

DIRTY DIRTY FINGERNAILS DIRTY DIRTY FINGERNAI-AI-AILS!!!!!!!!!!

Out of the shower,
Onto the bathroom floor
Outta the kitchen
Underneath the cassarolle

*insert weird backward feedback loops*

:) dirty fingernails was the first song i heard by them and i've been a fan ever since. i haven't heard the new album but i'm glad it's extending their fanbase and hopefully encouraging more people to discover their extensive and excellent backlog. the singer's side-project is called Ugly Cassanova (same as one of our esteemed members) and is also grade A goodness.

I'm thinking of picking up the album tomorrow, or maybe some of their older stuff first. I dunno.

Anyone else like The Mars Volta?
