Any mobos with both PCI-E and AGP ?

Not long ago I was forced to buy a new graphics card, and found a good AGP 8X card (my current mobo does not support PCI-E).

Now, however, I have decided to upgrade my whole system, so that means a new CPU, memory and mobo. If possible, I would like to keep my graphics card as it's only 6 months old. So I would like to know if there are any good mobos on the market currently that both support AGP 8X as well as PCI-E 2.0. I was looking into the Asus P5Q, so preferably something with roughly the same specs as that.

Thanks for any help!

A co-worker of mine just upgraded from an board with both slots...they do exist, but I don't know any off hand without searching. I'm sure if you went to Newegg and did a power search for a board and checked off both boxes (PCI-E and AGP) I bet you'll get some results.

well going AGP is a bit low end too. I can'tt really imagine why you would want AGP compatibility. Reasonably powerful pci-e GPU's can be had for $50(hd3850's and 9600gt's) where as AGP soutions with that kind of power or very hard to come by if even possible.

Are there any chipsets that natively support PCI-E that also natively support AGP? I thought the boards with both had some extra controller for the AGP.

OP, Spend the $50 on a PCI-E card and be done with it.

A good AGP card has a lot of value, and is often worth more $$ than it's PCIe equivalent. For example, a Radeon 3850 AGP sells for $100 @ Newegg, yet a PCIe 3850 sells for $47.

Sell the AGP card, buy PCIe.

I used the ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA2 as an in between board as it had both agp/PCIE and DDR/DDR2, it maybe a lowend board with not many options for overclocking. But thats where the low end stopped. It was a SOLID fast mobo and I had it for longer than I first planned to becuase it was so good.

Both Uli and Via have chipsets that both support PCI-E and AGP natively. The Via solution (on the 4core-sata2) are limited to PCI-E x4 electrically. The Uli solution (on the 939dual-vsta/939dual-sata2) were not limited.

I can think of a good reason why you might want an AGP option: Second card for playing old school games. As it stands, no card since the ATI x1xxx series has supported 16 bit rendering modes properly. And many old games won't get along well even with those cards or don't work well with newer drivers.

Its to bad somebody doesn't just make a PCI-E slot -> AGP port adapter. As I understand it, since the nvidia 6 series at least the AGP cards have just been PCI-E cards with an onboard converter chip. Its probably harder to make a universal one that works well though.
