well... for one, you should have already known about this... if you dont, go get em now 😛

CS and ECE students, in a month or two, you should be able to directly download them for free, thanks to the deal we have with MS.

Well, I guess you could say that it's built into the tuition, but I doubt you decided on a University for the cheap software perks. Besides, UT is fairly cheap for in-state students. Heck, I pay 3 times as much and I have to pay full price for XP. So at the very least, it's a really good perk.

Umm... I went into the Campus Computer Store (on campus) today (Oct 25th) and they had an announcement posted on the door saying XP will be available to teachers/faculty in 2-3 weeks and to students in 4-6 weeks... !!!! ARG!!!! Does anybody know if this has been up there for like a month or more? or if I will have to wait until december to get XP... arg!

This is the equivalent of saying:

Buy a UT Austin Membership Card for:
$3,766 for in-state "Membership Fee", $10,096 for out-of-state "Membership Fee"
Plus Room/board: $5,671 "Additional Membership Fee"

And get Microsoft software for $5!!!

Great if you're already a "Member".

if you go to UT.. do you know if they scan your school ID card? I'm no longer to to UT but i still have the ID card.. I bought windows 98 there for 5 dollars a few years back but i don't remember if they did scan the card or what...Thank in advance.

I am pretty sure they do scan the UT-id... It is their way of making sure nobody buys multiple copies at the "student" discount... Then I again, i am not sure...

Yup, they scan your Student ID. And if they don't, they are required to at least input your Student ID # (on your ID card) into the computer to prevent students from buying more than one copy. 😉

It's available to any school in the University of Texas system (UTArlington, UTDallas, etc). I'm kinda tempted to take a scuba diving class just so I can get Visual Studio .NET for $25 when it's released.

Anybody know if schools in the UC (University of California) system have this? PM me please if you know.

Peace
