I might get a Mazda 3 today. I was looking at the base 2.0 models but they are not much cheaper than the 2.3 4 and 5 door models when you factor in the air conditioner cost. Anyone able to get near invoice on these cars or is demand to high for them? Is the 5 speed any more or less in demand then the automatic?

I was going to be a future Mazda 3 owner until pricing was announced on this. Don't get me wrong, the Mazda 3 is a GREAT car, but it's more than a bit overpriced.

I was going to wait for the Scion to but my car will not start and sharing a car with my wife for 2+ months does not sound fun.

$15813 including destination charge. Is this a good price for the 5 door 2.3 Mazda 3?

I owned a 2.3 4 doors Mazda 3. I bought it for a little less than $20,000. I don't remember the exact price, but that is the out the door price. I've the ABS, Moonroof/6cd chanager and sport package.

then don't fix the entire thing, just make it run.

I wouldn't settle when it comes to buying a car in this segment espically when there are other options that you might want to pursue.

One more question, how are Mazda cars resale value? Compared to the average and also compared to Honda and Toyota? I like to trade in my car every 3-5 years and would like a decent trade in value. I had a Mazda pickup before and traded in after 3 years for $8300 when I purchased it new for $8888. But that was a truck, not sure on cars.

From what I see, it seems like Mazda resale value is lower than Toyota and Honda for sure, so you might want to take that into your consideration.
