Any Lian Li V1000 Plus owners?

I've heard the v1000 Plus is particular about the size power supply (dimension-wise) that goes in it.
I have a Fortron Blue Storm 400W power supply that I was wondering would fit into this case or not?
Also, are you owners happy with this case? Does the design seem to help with cooling?
Thanks in advance!

IMHO the V1000 Plus and it's brothers (the V1000 and the V1000 Plus II) are no more PSU size sensitive than any other case when you exercise a little common sense, i.e. do your homework first to find out the dimensions of the PSU you are considering and make sure there is enough clearance inside the PSU compartment of the case you are considering. Better to do this than to have to mod your nice new case to make a PSU fit, right?

Anyway, according to Fortron's web page for the Blue Storm 400W the Blue Storm 400W's dimensions are 150mmx140mmx86mm. I have a PC Power & Cooling 510 SLI in my V1000 Plus II. The 510 Series have the same dimensions as the Fortron you are looking at (5.9"x3.4"x5.5") so you should be fine. Before I bought my case I researched the V1000's PSU compartment dimensions, but now I don't remember where I found them. Duh.

Since you are looking at the V1000 Plus, you should consider the V1000 Plus II. While I've never run a V1000 Plus, I would guess that the Plus II's side-exhausting 120mm fan rusn a little more quietly than the 120mm scroll-type blower fan used in the V1000 Plus (scroll-type fans are usually more noisy as well as less efficient than an equivalent size fan running at the same RPM). Plus, if you live in the U.S.?, the cost differential between the two is slim to nil.

For the differences between the V1000 Series see this thread Lian Li PC-V1000......V1000Plus.....V1000PlusII over at Xtreme Systems. As far as cooling design goes the V1000 Plus II is markedly better than the original V1000. I had a V1000 but recently converted to the V1000 Plus II design. The 120mm side-exhausting fan helps pull heat from my SCSI card and X-Fi out of the case. Both of these cards can generate a lot of heat during long gaming sessions.

Am I happy with my V1000 Plus II? Definitely. Great build quality - the best I've seen in aluminum PC cases. Very thoughtful design. Caveats? No f'in Reset button. How lame on an otherwise awesome case. Also, due to the open design inherent with all those holes there is some noise bleed-out. And, because the case is all aluminum there is more resonance than you would have with an all steel case. This is especially noticible since I am running four (4) 15K SCSI drives and I am somewhat sensitive to noise.

One last thing - if you think that you might ever go SLI or Crossfire you might consider the V1200 Plus II. The only difference between the V1200 Plus II and the V1000 Plus II is that the V1200 Plus II is 100mm deeper (front to back) than the V1000 Plus II to accomodate extended PSUs'. Of course, this 100mm increased depth holds true down the line between the V1000 and V1200 Series. Hope this helps.

The main reason I was looking at a V1000+ was cost. I can get one new for $145 shipped. I don't know if it's worth the extra $50 to go with the PlusII, is it? I know..."you're already spending that much & one doesn't buy a case often, so..........". 🙂
I guess I like the style better than the LX-6A19 with the Mod 4 package I had built for me by Jim at Coolcases.com.
I'm also hoping it will help my temps...42c CPU & 36c Motherboard on a A64 3200+ (not overclocked) w/an Arctic Freezer Pro 64.

it's an atx case, so it accepts any atx compliant psu. I think louissssss can attest that the inverted MoBo design helps with the vid card cooling a little b/c it's face up... it's generally a cool case, but a little noiser than other b/c it has holes in the front bezel. The plus II is just the newer version. I believe they have the same features.

Just to add some more info, ATX specification defines a specific size for the PSU. So yes, any ATX power supply is the same dimension 150x140x86mm. The only problem occurs when you get a PSU that is EPS12V compliant. These can be larger lengthwise (up to 230mm) and are designed for servers....... These are the power supply's that people are having problems with on the Lian-Li's.

I'm guessing you are thinking about gettin the case from Monarch? It's a good deal, I don't think it's worth paying $50+ extra for the plus II.

While we're talking about the case, I noticed there's a cover over the rear exhaust fan. Is there a reason behind this? Also, i've heard that one would be better off if one used rounded or sata cables with this case for routing purposes...is this true? I'm not sure I understand how motherboards mounted inverted can run cooler.

I have a Antec Smartpower 2.0 psu in a V1000B Plus I, and in order to fit the psu comfortably, I had to remove a divider in the bottom section, and I chose also to remove the 2nd hard drive rack to improve airflow and make routing cables easier. Each hard drive rack holds up to 3 drives, so if you can use just a single rack, then you will have no problems at all fitting your psu.

The difference between the V1000 and the V1000 plus is basically an extra fan that sucks air from the pci slots and a piece of metal that routes air coming off the cpu towards the rear exhaust fan. I found no use for either of these...if you can save 50 bucks and really want these, I can sell them to you cheap! The V1000 plus II includes a fan built-in to the side panel (instead of using the pci fan in the V1000 plus).

your FSP PSU will definately fit in that case. i'm currently using the FSP epsilon 600watt psu in my case and it fits without moving the divider or any HDD cage, although u can to fit large psu's like the PCPC 1k
