Well I had a brilliant idea when I hit my head on my ceiling.

I am sure everyone has seen those hippies outside a bestbuy or walmart that plays a pair of bongo drums with a basket or hat on the ground. Well people always throw money in those hats, am I right?

I figure if you do that for a couple of hours per day, you can make some pretty good bank.




Are there any laws that forbid anything like this? Is this considered soliciting?

bestbuy is usually on private property. if you did it on a sidewalk maybe. i'm sure there are still laws that could be applied

On private property, you'll need permission. On public property, you may need a permit.

Why not just get a job?

I got one, but I figured to go the easier route that pays more would be option #1 if it works.


Any suggestions on drums? I guess the most they would do is kick me off the property.

When I was younger I used to be a musician. It was called panhandling then. Probably still is, but I don't do it any more.

As long as it's decent hours, you only need a permit if you are playing amplified sound. You should be okay with a drum as long as you don't piss anyone off. Big if, though. I'm sure there's some bogus law they can throw at you to shut you up if they really wanted to (disturbing the peace comes to mind).
